Bright Colors, Bushwick, April 2021
Bright colors are popping up not just on tulips but on people on the streets of NYC – a trend we also saw in some of the bright, monochromatic menswear looks at last night’s Oscars. It seems to signal unbridled optimism after a long, cold winter.

Never Too Early for White Jeans: Eglantina Zingg at Carolina Herrera FW2017
You may be wondering right about now when it will be time to break out the white jeans. The answer is: it’s never too early to wear white jeans, as seen on Eglantina Zingg of Project Runway Latin America – in February! This is one wardrobe item that needs a refresher every year or so. A cropped pair with raw cuffs is an updated spin on a classic.
Bright Idea: Ece Sukan at Calvin Klein FW2017
Ece Sukan brightened up a winter day outside the Calvin Klein show in all white.
Kristina Bazan at Pucci SS2016
Hot or cold? A great transitional look on Kristina Bazan outside the Pucci show.
Caroline de Maigret at Haider Ackermann SS2016
One of my Parisian favorites, Caroline de Maigret, at the Haider Ackermann show in a black and white coat by the designer.
Grace Mahary at Chanel FW2015
Grace Mahary rocked out in a Bob Marley tee and zebra striped coat after the Chanel show. Also note: white jeans season is already upon us.
Winter White: Eva Chen at Derek Lam SS2015
New York women are not afraid to pile on the layers when the mercury drops. Case in point: Eva Chen during last year’s freezing cold fashion week, bundled up in winter white and silver sneakers, still looking chic.
Nausheen Shah at Lacoste FW2014
Another pop of color for you on a gloomy day: at the Lacoste show in New York, Nausheen Shah wore a bright red coat, fur vest and white jeans and carried an awesome “Size Does Matter” clutch – a personalized bag by BOYY bags.
Alexis Bryan Morgan at Peter Som FW2014
Still can’t get enough pink for spring 2014! Lucky Magazine’s Alexis Bryan Morgan wore an oversized pink coat to the Peter Som show in New York and accessorized with a pink clutch and pale pink scarf. White jeans and snakeskin print heels are another good investment for spring.
Thinking Pink, Outside BCBG
Oversized Coat and Sneakers, Outside Cavalli
One of the most talked-about aspects of the recent Chanel couture show was Karl Lagerfeld’s choice of footwear for the exquisite gowns and suits: sneakers. The sneaker trend actually trickled up from the streets. In recent fashion weeks so many of the models off duty and photographers wore running shoes to (sometimes literally) sprint between shows. The good news: they don’t have to be as expensive as Chanel. Nike is fine.
In Milan, a showgoer wore Nike running shoes with a wide brimmed hat and oversize coat, feminizing the look by leaving a little bit of ankle exposed. Try it when it gets warm enough to expose some skin.
Caroline Issa at DKNY
Caroline Issa wore a green fur with a bright orange lining to the DKNY show. The coat is actually by a Central Saint Martins student. The streak of color at the lapel went with the streak of blue mascara on her eyes and red lipstick – see the beauty shot below.
Simone Marchetti at Kenzo
Simone Marchetti, fashion editor of La Repubblica, is one of the best dressed men at fashion week and one we look forward to seeing every season. At the Kenzo show in Paris, he paired a Valentino camouflage jacket with white chinos and studded loafers which – ahem – are also available for women.
Leandra Medine Photobombing Taylor Tomasi Hill, Outside Peter Som
This was a funny moment outside the shows. Both street style stars attracted a lot of attention from photographers, and Leandra Medine of the Man Repeller jokingly photo-bombed Taylor Tomasi Hill. Great outfits on both of them!
