Leandra Medine at Theyskens’ Theory SS2014
Leandra Medine showed real fashion prescience when she wore these shredded, cuffed boyfriend jeans and a pink blazer almost a year ago. The look is still great for summer 2014.
Caroline de Maigret at Theory FW2014
It’s always a treat to see top model Caroline de Maigret at a show, supporting Olivier Theyskens at a big Theory runway show. Love her chic but laid back style here: white sneakers with an oversize coat that echoes the menswear theme we’ve seen on the women’s runways.
Caroline de Maigret at Theyskens’ Theory
Chanel muse and model Caroline de Maigret exudes this sultry French chic that we American women can’t seem to master. Alas, maybe we could at least dress like her? At the Theyskens’ Theory show yesterday, she paired black waxed jeans with a beautiful silk herringbone blazer and heels. The bag is Chanel, bien sûr.
Another difference between the Americans and the French: they don’t waste time with blowouts, instead letting their hair look always a little bit mussed. Very sexy.
Meredith Melling Burke at Theyskens’ Theory
Wide, pleated trousers like these on Meredith Melling Burke continue to appear on runways for resort 2014 – a worthwhile investment. And I’m a sucker for the raffia bag, a beachwear classic.
Susie Lau at Theyskens’ Theory
Surprisingly chic right now: all denim from head to toe. At the Theyskens’ Theory show in New York, Susie Lau of Style Bubble mixed different shades of blue denim, all from ASOS, and finished the look with Prada shoes.
Taylor Tomasi Hill at Theyskens’ Theory
One from the archives: Taylor Tomasi Hill dared to bare her ankles last February at the Theyskens’ Theory show. That’s what warm winter days are for!
Caroline Seiber at Theyskens’ Theory
One thing I have personally been obsessed with this past fall is sheer black stockings. Formerly relegated to the back of the drawer in favor of opaque tights, they’ve made a huge comeback. Always ahead of the curve, Caroline Seiber paired a gorgeous gray dress (gray – also very au courant) with sexy sheer black stockings at last February’s Theyskens’ Theory show.
Beaded Jacket, Outside Theyskens’ Theory
One of the best things about seeing all this fashion up close at New York Fashion Week is seeing the detail on exquisite clothing, like the beading on this jacket outside Theyskens’ Theory.
Ursina Gysi at Theyskens’ Theory
Ursina isn’t afraid of directional fashion, so don’t be afraid to take fashion direction from her. In recent seasons she has been wearing a lot of haute sportswear, like this floral embellished basketball jersey and flowing satin pants. Worn with stilettos, the look is unusual and elegant.
All White, Outside Theyskens' Theory
On the opposite end of the spectrum: all white, which should be a big look for spring. She isn’t wearing a pantsuit but a combination of white jacket, tee and jeans for a more relaxed interpretation of this monochromatic look.
Michelle Harper at Theyskens' Theory
I’ve been looking through some old photos before next week’s NY Fashion Week and came across this one of Michelle Harper (with Tommy Ton in the background). Love how her look is a cross between super modern and old Hollywood glamour.
Brown Jumpsuit, Outside Theyskens' Theory
Despite all the concern that there will never be another Halston, we may not have to worry. His aesthetic has been absorbed into the fashion zeitgeist so thoroughly that there are references everywhere, as with this ’70s chic brown jumpsuit on a guest outside the Theyskens’ Theory show.
Leigh Lezark at Olivier Theyskens’ Theory
Such a cool mix of high and street fashion. The tee says “Olivier,” the bag and sunglasses are Chanel.
Anna Wintour at Theyskens' Theory, Valentine's Day
Anna Wintour arrived at Olivier Theyskens’ first show for Theory exquisitely attired in shades of red – for Valentine’s Day? With a beautifully tailored burgundy jacket, garnet flocked velvet coat and fuchsia wool skirt, she looked like she stepped out of the pages of Vogue.
