Bonnaroo Street Chic: Leopard-Print Shorts and Doc Martens
Since the original huge American music festival was Woodstock, festival fashion often follows the hippie beat of that era. But as a New Yorker, I liked seeing the edgier looks at Bonnaroo. Military boots like Doc Martens are perfect for tackling dust or mud, and not every print has to be paisley. Try leopard!
Bonnaroo Street Chic: Crochet Bikini and Denim Shorts
Sometimes the best thing to wear when it’s blistering hot is next to nothing, especially when you have the bod for it, like this girl at Bonnaroo in a brown crochet bikini top, Daisy Duke shorts, cowboy boots and a big sombrero.
Two Summer 2012 Trends: Denim Shorts and Head Wreaths
These two fashionable friends were wearing a couple of things that keep popping up everywhere for summer 2012: denim shorts, on the left, and a head wreath, on the right. Jean shorts aren’t just blue anymore but come in a wide array of colors, like these in burgundy, in neon colors, dip-dyed or even tie-dyed. And head wreaths are worth noting not just because of the festival circuit but for their appearance on fashion influencers like the Man Repeller and Giovanna Battaglia. (more…)
Bonnaroo Street Chic: White Tunic and Fanny Pack
Cute bikini cover-ups were a key part of getting dressed every day at Bonnaroo. This white cotton tunic with a lace edge is breezy and pretty on one of many guests who opted for a fanny pack instead of a handbag. The print socks and Keds add a little bit of quirk.
Two Girls in Graphic Prints, Bonnaroo
Graphic prints were a popular way to show your spirit at Bonnaroo. They ranged from the psychedelic, like the high-waisted shorts on the left, to the more subtle, like the cotton tunic on the right.
White Crochet Dress, Bonnaroo
Open and airy crochet was a chic way to beat the heat at Bonnaroo. An ivory crochet dress serves as a bathing suit coverup here, paired with a headscarf, Ray Ban aviators and sandals. Like many guests, she piled on the bracelets to accessorize that Bonnaroo wristband.
Bralet and Short Shorts, Bonnaroo
To beat the heat on the steamy first day of Bonnaroo, many guests wore not much at all. Better to opt for a cute bralet and short shorts like these, however, than just a bikini. It’s a way to keep cool but stay dressed.
Anthropologie Crop Top and Maxi Skirt, Bonnaroo
Here’s another cute crop top look from this weekend’s Bonnaroo. Coordinated tops and skirts are this summer’s sundress, in which all-over prints get updated with cut out panels and midriff-baring separates.
Halter Top and Denim Shorts, Bonnaroo
Halter tops were a great way to beat the heat during the first, really hot days of Bonnaroo, and denim shorts are always a popular pick for outdoor concerts. This guest also wore a couple of accessories that were popping up everywhere: a fanny pack and a head wreath adorned with flowers.
Three Girls in Maxi Skirts, Bonnaroo
The place to be last weekend was Manchester, Tennessee, where the 2012 Bonnaroo festival took over 700 acres of farmland for six stages, dozens of vendors, and approximately 80,000 music fans. Because most people camped out instead of staying in hotels, Bonnaroo bore more resemblance to Woodstock than Lollapalooza, and fashion followed suit. These three girls wore maxi skirts, bikinis, headbands and crocheted tops that wouldn’t have been out of place in the ’60s. But they have one accessory that’s very trendy right now – the hula hoop. Girls are hooping their way through set after set of music, some with LED-lit hula hoops after dark.
