Heart Breaker: Harley Viera Newton at Valentino Resort 2018
Valentino came to town this week to put on a resort show in downtown NYC. The fashion crowd came out in force for designer Pierpaolo Piccioli, who hasn’t missed a beat since taking full helm of the label last year. Harley Viera Newton was one of several starlets in attendance and arrived in a pink striped Valentino dress embroidered with hearts.
Dose of Color: Elina Halimi at Alberta Ferretti FW2017
Here’s one color trend we’re still seeing a lot of: bright yellow, as spotted on Elina Halimi at the Alberta Ferretti show. This perennially happy color is a nice way to welcome the summer.
Prince of Wales: Marianne at Valentino FW2017
Prince of Wales plaid popped up everywhere during fashion month on women and men. This lightweight material works well as transition wear during the spring. At Valentino, Marianne mixed it with an orange sweatshirt and retro sunglasses.

I Zig, You Zag: Charlotte Groeneveld at Carven SS2017
The zig zag knit, popularized by Missoni, is a classic that never goes out of style. It’s also a cozy way to sweater-dress. Charlotte Groeneveld wore a zig zag knit sweater and dress by Chloe to the shows in Paris.
All Black, New York City, November 9, 2016
This woman was one of many wearing all black on the streets of New York today, the day after the 2016 election. Hot pants may be unusual in November, but the heart-shaped sunglasses should be a tip off: she is wearing an almost exact replica of the look of Darlene in Mr. Robot, the TV show about a dystopian future in which hackers band together under a group called “F Society.”
Layer It On: Helena Bordon at Sacai SS2017
Layering is more than a means of keeping warm. At the Sacai show in Paris, Helena Bordon layered a turtleneck under a patent leather bustier for a look that was both chic and cozy. This technique dials down the sexiness of slip dresses and strapless tops to make them work for daytime. It’s also a way of extending your summer wardrobe into the cooler months.
Pajama Dressing: Chiara Ferragni at Chloe SS2017
This trend’s got legs: pajama dressing has been around for a couple seasons now, but this fall the looks are more sophisticated, like this navy silk pajama set on Chiara Ferragni. We noticed many women dressing for evening shows and dinners in silk pajamas. The style has particular appeal because it’s so comfortable, which is the way women really want to dress now.
Natasha Zinko at Elie Saab Couture FW2016
Natasha Zinko brought a pop of color to the Elie Saab couture show in Paris – and a ’70s look replete with purple glasses and blouse and yellow velvet pants. Expect more wild colors this fall as traditional autumn colors give way to the whole rainbow.

Beautiful blue, white and red on Chriselle Lim, who kept it casual but elegant at the Armani Privé show in Paris.
