David Thielebeule and Treena Lombardo at Jason Wu
These two Allure editors are so stylish separately but even more stylish together. David Thielebeule and Treena Lombardo both wore expertly layered looks to yesterday’s Jason Wu show. Love all the texture on him and the play on proportions in her outfit.
Opening Ceremony x Glamour Kitty Sweater, Outside BCBG
Welcome to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, aka New York Fashion Week! This adorable but chic kitty sweater was the centerpiece of one of my favorite outfits of Day One. It’s actually a collaboration between Glamour Magazine and Opening Ceremony, to be sold at Opening Ceremony on February 15th. Here it’s expertly mixed with a flowy white shirt dress, trench and bright red bag. As a cat person, I have been obsessed with it ever since OC previewed the design.
Mixed Prints, Outside Preen
These Prada stripes really have legs: Nautical stripes are already popping up in stores for yet another season. Bright graphic patterns like this mix on Leaf Greener of Elle China are a great way to usher in the spring. (And you can still stay warm in the process.)
Vanessa Friedman in a Red Cape, Outside Valentino
A pop of color is a great antidote to cold winter days. Financial Times editor Vanessa Friedman wore a bright red cape to the Valentino show.
Brown Suit and Orange Tie, Madison Avenue
Here’s another great menswear look in honor of the men’s shows going on right now in Milan. Just as ladylike attire made a huge comeback this fall for women, bespoke suits and tailoring are essential looks in menswear now.
Black Shearling Jacket, Prince Street
As much as we street style photographers lament the all-black look, it doesn’t have to be boring. A sleek silhouette, interesting textures and the white shirt make this look – which is Helmut Lang from head to toe – more interesting than your cookie-cutter all black outfit.
Michelle Harper at Viktor & Rolf
True confession: I’ve almost given up on buying anything other than shoes and coats for winter. For five months of the year, it’s nearly all anyone sees of one’s outfit in cold New York, so you might as well have a statement-making coat. Michelle Harper wore a bold mustard yellow trench with a huge, sculptural lapel and matching shoes to the Viktor & Rolf show in Paris. It’s a great example of how one piece of clothing can make an outsized impact.
Leaf Greener at Rochas
Leaf Greener of Elle China wore green and expertly mixed patterns to the Rochas show in Paris. Detail shot after the jump.
Anna Wintour in Plaid
Anna Wintour, entering the Lanvin show in painterly plaid. Love how her personal style is both classic and colorful.
Snakeskin Pants at Costume National
There’s no need to wait until spring to start wearing snakeskin, even though this pattern was all over the runways for the new season. The digitized print is already popping up everywhere on dresses, jeans and pants, as on this well-dressed attendee at the Costume National show in Paris.
Virginia Smith at Viktor & Rolf
Vogue editor Virginia Smith has been rocking a key piece for fall 2011: wide-legged corduroys. Hers are by Theyskens’ Theory, worn simply with a black tee, black RayBan wayfarers and snakeskin clutch.
Vanessa Friedman at Louis Vuitton
FT fashion editor and front-row fixture Vanessa Friedman wore a great high-low mix to Louis Vuitton, on the last day of fashion month. This outfit is actually quite comfortable and warm – it’s a sweatshirt jersey dress under that luxurious fur vest – but so chic.
Fall Colors, Outside Hermès
Loved the saturated fall colors in this cute skirt and top ensemble with leopard print flats. The contrasting white collar is also great for Fall 2011.
Caroline Issa at Viktor & Rolf
Caroline Issa of Tank Magazine wore a number of great outfits over Paris fashion week, but this one from the Viktor & Rolf show has to be my favorite. I love the elaborate embroidery on this black dress, very 1940s, like the vintage needlepoint bag Ulyana Sergeenko carried earlier in the week. (You can find lots of them on eBay if you’re in the market.)
Giovanna Battaglia at Lanvin
Stylist Giovanna Battaglia arrived at Lanvin in a two-tone saturated orange and brown dress tied at the hips. Loved the accessories too: envelope clutch, translucent orange framed glasses and gold choker.
