Pink Bow Tie and White Chinos, Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
Loved this cooly elegant look on a male guest at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. It’s preppy, yes, but also modern, with two-tone boating shoes and sleek sunglasses. Like many at the polo match, he accessorized with a Veuve Clicquot picnic blanket in their signature saffron yellow.
Natalie Joos in Cavalli, Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
The beautiful Natalie Joos attended Saturday’s Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in a white Cavalli dress and Chloe shoes. Love the easy elegance of this look.
Blue Polka Dot Dress, the Great Googa Mooga
Striped Tee and Denim Shorts, the Great Googa Mooga
Denim shorts were a popular sartorial choice at last weekend’s Great Googa Mooga festival in Prospect Park. The white flip flops and white wayfarers play off the graphic black and white stripes of her tee. Another important aspect of festival fashion? If you’re going to show those toes, make sure you have a rockin’ pedicure, like hers in electric blue.
Zigzag Maxi Dress, the Great Googa Mooga
Patterned, free floating maxi dresses are another good option for outdoor concerts. Here a vibrant zigzag maxi dress gets paired with a wide-brimmed black hat at the Great Googa Mooga – sophisticated but casual.
Shorts and Frye Boots, the Great Googa Mooga
Here’s another cool but practical look for outdoor concerts: denim shorts and mid-calf boots. There is no one right style of denim shorts this season. This slightly flared pair looks great with flat, rugged Frye boots, made for tromping around outside no matter what the weather. Also love how she styles it with a striped long sleeve tee and Ray Ban aviators – casual but cute.
Shredded Denim Shorts, the Great Googa Mooga
New Yorkers broke out their best festival wear for this weekend’s Great Googa Mooga food and music extravaganza in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. One guest wore totally shredded and destroyed denim shorts, mixing them with a black top and black and white shades. The outfit is not just cool but practical: a small cross body bag, boots, bedspread and wide brimmed hat make it easy to either dance or sit down and picnic.
Leopard Print Jumpsuit, Outside Haider Ackermann
Loved this abstract leopard print jumpsuit outside the Haider Ackermann show in Paris. She’s taking a lot of fashion risks, and it all pays off. The red platforms and oversize sunglasses balance out this big pattern so the focus is still on the girl, not just her clothes.
Aline Weber at Stella McCartney
It seems like April showers have finally caught up with us, but don’t let the weather be a downer in the fashion department. Top model Aline Weber captivated the crowd outside the Stella McCartney show with her free spirited style. Here she brightens up a gloomy Paris day with lots of boho layers – a crushed velvet blazer, mesh sweater, gypsy skirt and scarf sash.
P.S. Sorry for the watermark, but I’ve had problems with people taking and altering my photos of models!
Taylor Tomasi Hill in Black and White Stripes
Bill Cunningham’s column this weekend reminded me of this photo from the Louis Vuitton show – Taylor Tomasi Hill in graphic black and white stripe pants. It’s a particularly daring look made even more so with a black leather corset under that jacket. Black and white is perfect for this time of year, when we’re finally starting to transition to the all white looks of summer.
Liz Cabral at Rochas
When spring weather turns gloomy, it’s tempting to revert to your fall clothes. This isn’t necessary a bad thing, though, if you pack a graphic punch as Flare editor Liz Cabral does here. Pairing the black motorcycle jacket with a bright red dress keeps it warm but seasonally appropriate – and the snakeskin boots usher in the spring.
Also, that’s a Tommy Ton for Club Monaco bag – big enough to hold a laptop!
Tamu McPherson at Marni
I loved Tamu’s colorful outfit at the Marni show. The All the Pretty Birds photo blogger wore a Suno dress, red Paul Smith coat, blue Gianvito Rossi shoes (more blue suede shoes!), and pink Karen Walker sunglasses. Bright colors and patterns like hers are a great way to celebrate spring.
Julia Sarr-Jamois at Marni
During fashion week we had no idea that Julia Sarr-Jamois, editor of Wonderland, was going to be modeling in two big spring campaigns, but the results for Tibi and Barneys are quite beautiful. Here she is – a model off/on duty? – in an elaborate floral embroidered black patent leather jacket at Marni.
Pop of Color, Outside Haider Ackermann
This is a great early-spring outfit that incorporates a pop of bright orange in an otherwise warm and tweedy look.
