Jane Keltner de Valle at Derek Lam
Teen Vogue’s Jane Keltner de Valle wore a Jason Wu Skirt, Jason Wu bag, and Proenza Schouler top to yesterday’s Derek Lam show.
Sojourner Morrell, Outside Milk Studios
Born in the U.S. and raised in England, model Sojourner Morrell is one of the newer faces on the scene and one of my favorites. Outside Milk Studios she wore tough-cool layers of gray denim.
Miroslava at Jason Wu
Miroslava Mikheeva Duma wore a jumpsuit printed with dogs and a beautiful statement necklace to yesterday’s Jason Wu show.
Jessica Hart Outside Milk Studios
Model Jessica Hart lingered outside Milk Studios after a friend’s presentation.
Food note: The People’s Pops, the artisanal popsicles sold at Chelsea Market across the street, have been extremely popular with the fashion crowd.
Photographer in Orange, Outside BCBG
Photographer Marianne Theodorsen of Style Devil wore an orange vintage skirt, Acne top and silver 3.1 Phillip Lim heels while shooting street style outside the BCBG show at Lincoln Center.
Virginia Smith in Black and White
And…. we’re off! The first full day of New York Fashion Week always has that first day of school feel to it. It’s good to see some familiar faces, like the ever-chic Virginia Smith of Vogue, who attended this morning’s BCBG Max Azria show dressed in black and white. Loved the monochromatic palette as transitional wear into fall and the animal print pants.
Boating Hat and Shorts, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Another great menswear look from the Jazz Age Lawn Party. Shorts and vests were the way to go – and the boating hat is very charming.
Floral Dress and White Turban, Jazz Age Lawn Party
I think I will always love turbans, especially white ones. Blame it on Lana Turner inĀ The Postman Always Rings Twice. It just adds an extra level of elegance to any look, as with this vintage silk floral dress and cute heels with socks at the Jazz Age Lawn Party.
Girl in a Peach-Colored Hat, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Family in White, Jazz Age Lawn Party
This Side of Paradise Bag, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Loved this lady with her This Side of Paradise bag. It’s just from Barnes & Noble, but so apropos for the Jazz Age Lawn Party. She also wears a vintage dress, cloche hat and elaborate false beaded eyelashes.
Four Guys in Gray Suits, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Vests have been a popular sartorial choice for men not just at this 1920s-themed party but on the streets of New York. Look for more of them when the weather gets cooler this fall.
Street Chic: Boating Blazer and Saddle Shoes, Jazz Age Lawn Party
This sporty outfit seen may look vintage, but it’s actually a mix of modern day Thom Browne, Ralph Lauren and J. Crew – and testament to how much the 1920s are currently influencing men’s fashion.
Street Chic: Dolce & Gabbana Dress, RICA Swimwear Party
Last night’s RICA Swimwear spring preview took place at the rooftop bar of the Mondrian Soho, Soaked. It was the perfect setting for a flirty, chic dress from Dolce & Gabbana that combined leopard and scarf prints. (more…)
Street Chic: Men in White, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Pale suits were all the rage on men at this weekend’s Jazz Age Lawn Party. Crooner Gregory Moore, who would later perform with a troupe of Dreamland follies, even wore a white cape for the occasion. And of course, there’s one accessory you can’t do without at this garden party: a picnic basket.
