Accessorizing With Flowers, Outside Valentino
Here’s another way to accessorize with florals this spring: carry a bouquet. This industry insider was often spotted with fresh flowers on the way to the shows. The fleurs are not only a nice gesture but a beautiful burst of color that plays off her electric blue and green Prada fur scarf.
Tweed Jacket Embellished With Flowers, Outside Chloe
If, like me, you get stuck in a rut and keep wearing black and gray even though it’s spring, take a cue from this model off duty. She may be wearing a black cowl neck sweater and black lace skirt, but she tops it off with a colorful tweed jacket adorned with flowers. Making an effort!
Sailor Stripes, Brooklyn Flea Williamsburg
Here’s how guys can work sailor stripes for spring – bold, vibrant and crisp. I also like how the white soles of his sneakers (intentionally?) match the white tires of his Moth bike.
White Shirtdress, Outside Viktor & Rolf
I never get tired of exquisitely tailored white shirts or shirtdresses – like this one on a model off duty in the Tuileries.
Update: She is Elena Perminov.
Elisa Nalin Colorblocking at Sonia Rykiel
Indeed, chic stylist Elisa Nalin drew the attention of Craig Arend of Altamira and many other photogs this past fashion month. Outside the Sonia Rykiel show, she tackled the tricky job of colorblocking with ease. The colors may be wildly vibrant, but by repeating the purple, yellow and red in several pieces, she applies a Mondrian-like logic to the look.
Blush Jacket, Outside Louis Vuitton
Loved this gorgeous blush pink jacket outside the Louis Vuitton show. It’s the perfect color for this spring – and the sunglasses are just right.
Zanna Roberts Rassi at Louis Vuitton
I don’t have enough photos of Zanna Roberts Rassi up – and she was beautifully dressed at Paris Fashion Week! Here she is in a particularly striking outfit of gray wool trousers and a camel sweater with fur sleeves.
Khakis and a Burberry Trench, Seventh Avenue
A great look for a guy outside the Oscar de la Renta bridal show. Also note the rolled up cuffs and colorful socks – a key look for men right now.
White Blazer and Teal Blouse, Seventh Avenue
A well-dressed crowd showed up for yesterday’s Oscar de la Renta Spring 2012 bridal show on Seventh Avenue in the Garment District. This outfit of a teal silk button down and white blazer with a structured black bag and wedges is perfect for work – even on a day when the temperature goes from 60 to 77 degrees.
Two Looks, Brooklyn Flea Williamsburg
The new Brooklyn Flea on the Williamsburg waterfront has attracted a huge crowd with its great shopping, food trucks and beautiful city views. On these women at the first Flea, I loved the denim jumpsuit on the right, especially paired with an orange bag and big bangles. On the left, sailor stripes look even better with a toggle coat.
Think Pink, Lincoln Center Plaza
Maybe it’s just because of Reese Witherspoon’s wedding dress, but the color pink seems to be on the brain for a lot of fashionable people these days. If you buy nothing else this season, let it be a brightly colored bag like this one – though the gorgeous ring and bracelet aren’t too shabby either.
Hamish Bowles at Oscar de la Renta
Bright color, one of the major trends for spring 2011, has always been in fashion for Vogue editor Hamish Bowles. Here’s how the look can play out beautifully in menswear.
70s Jeans and Silk Button-Down, Outside Prabal Gurung
Here’s another example of ’70s jeans looking great in real life. Note how she keeps it from getting too hippie-dippy by wearing the jeans with a silk button-down blouse, tailored coat and structured bag. The loose topknot keeps it playful.
One Day Without Shoes
If you know TOMS shoes, the espadrilles that are popping up on fashionable feet everywhere, you probably know that for every pair sold, the company donates a pair to a child in need. To further raise awareness of the millions of children in developing nations who are at risk of infection and disease because they don’t have shoes, TOMS started an initiative of volunteer walks in cities all over the world, One Day Without Shoes. Yesterday in New York, several dozen people braved the chance of rain to strip off their shoes and walk on Pier 45 by the river. TOMS spokesmodel Anne V, above, led the way. (more…)
Girl in Khakis, Williamsburg
This girl’s look was so cool I don’t even know where to begin. It’s just effortless. I especially liked the button-fly khakis.
