Virginie Mouzat at Carven
This past fashion week, we admired Virginie Mouzat, fashion editor of the Parisian daily Le Figaro, not just for her sense of style but her fearlessness on the page. In an age when so many fashion “reviews” tiptoe around anything negative in an established designer’s collection (for fear of alienating advertisers?), she completely panned Tom Ford’s collection in New York. Brava! Sometimes the truth is just black and white.
Polka Dot Dress at Ann Demeulemeester
Of all the current and runway trends to emerge from fashion week, one thing was clear: the tough biker looks of years past have given way to a new ladylike aesthetic. This black and white polka dot dress with white Prada bag, pearls and Hollywood movie star sunglasses is a great example of the tailored, pretty new look.
Postscript: She is Shala Monroque of ShalasRabbitHole.com.
Hanne Gaby Odiele, Outside Rochas
Hanne Gaby Odiele walked the runway at the Rochas show then emerged in this amazing outfit of expertly mixed patterns. Gorgeous! Keep an eye out for print pants like these – they were all the rage in Paris, both at designer and contemporary price levels.
Caroline Seiber at Valentino
Valentino’s clothes are not for wallflowers. But if you’re willing to be the center of attention, then wow. Caroline Seiber was the proverbial lady in red at Tuesday’s Valentino show, turning all heads in a red jumpsuit as she strode into the Tuileries. (more…)
Elisa Nalin at Chanel
Stylist Elisa Nalin has really raised the bar for street style with her colorful, individualistic outfits. On this first cool day of Paris fashion week, she wore a deconstructed trench with arms made of pinstriped shirting to the Chanel show.
Grace Coddington at Louis Vuitton
The world of fashion photography would not be what it is today were it not for Grace Coddington, creative director of Vogue, who paused for a photo yesterday outside the Louis Vuitton show. This fashion week, she wore a lot of black and white, which in Paris will always evoke two other fashion greats, Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent.
Fashion Week S/S 2012 Is Over!
Models celebrated outside the Miu Miu show, like this girl in a cute yellow dress, platform clogs and a backpack. It has been fun but exhausting. Thank you everyone who patiently posed for photos!
And never fear – there are many more Paris street style photos to come in the following weeks. So much fashion, so little time.
Miroslava Mikheeva Duma at Stella McCartney
Another Russian who’s been making waves at Paris fashion week is fashion correspondent Miroslava Mikheeva Duma, seen here in a fringed suede Prada dress that she described as “old,” aka vintage. Love the saturated fall colors.
Anya Ziourova at Hermes
At the Hermès show, Anya Ziourova of Russian Tatler wore a gorgeous necklace and botanical print dress that echoed the vivid flora and fauna prints that have been appearing in many spring collections. Full length shot after the jump. (more…)
Black and White Print, Outside Issey Miyake
Loved the graphic print on this black and white top outside the Issey Miyake show. The maxi skirt with blue colorblocking, red striped belt and wooden bead necklaces take it up another notch. And! The metallic polka dot bag. A great look.
Kate Lanphear in Black and White at Dior
Here’s another black and white look – Kate Lanphear at Dior in le smoking. The menswear inspired pumps are also black and white. Perfection.
Black and White Look, Outside Costume National
Black and white has long been a popular sartorial choice in early fall, when it’s still too warm for lots of autumn color. This year the fashion set is interpreting it with a distinct menswear spin. Sharp, crisp lines evoke tuxedos and spats, but the cut is very modern and sleek. Even her shoes are black and white – detail after the jump.
Leigh Lezark at Viktor & Rolf
Leigh Lezark looked smoking hot walking into the Tuileries in a dress for the Viktor & Rolf show in a dress by the designer duo. It’s a fabulous, body-con sportswear look that has been big on the runways for Spring 2012 too.
Stephanie LaCava at Haider Ackermann
In some odd confluence of global warming (er, “climate change”), the endless cycle of new collections, and designers’ mashup of pre-fall, fall, resort and spring trends, bright colors that are normally the hallmark of springtime clothes have really been a hit during this super sunny October Paris fashion week. Fashion influencer Stephanie LaCava wore a bright yellow silk print top and black silk shorts outside Saturday’s Haider Ackermann show.
