TBT: Ece Sukan at Desigual SS2018
Jacket weather seems to last so briefly in NYC – it’s either down coat or crop top weather most of the time – so take advantage of a cool day with a cool jacket like this washed denim one on Ece Sukan last September. The bright yellow Chanel purse-backpack is also covetable.
Hold the Phone: NYFW?!
Hold the phone: It’s already New York Fashion Week?! Yes, and we’ll be out there, no matter what the weather!
White Track Suits, Outside Tory Burch SS2018
Here was Tory Burch’s spin on the white pantsuit for a new generation: white track suits, which many of the models wore as they left her show this fall. Hiandra Martinez and Manuela Sanchez struck a pose.
Business as Usual: Ece Sukan at Tory Burch SS2018
Loved this menswear-inspired suiting look on Ece Sukan at the Tory Burch show last fall. The Chanel purse backpack in mustard yellow was right on trend, too.
Man in Sacai, Outside Dries Van Noten SS2018
WCW: Teddy Quinlivan at Maison Margiela SS2018
Transgender odel Teddy Quinlivan in beautiful and weird hair and makeup by Pat McGrath after the Maison Margiela show in Paris.
Eyes on You: Bryanboy at Diane von Furstenberg SS2018
In the past few years, the fashion industry has evolved from one in which designers and photographers framed their own story around a model – one who remained largely silent and transmutable – to one in which the subject of the photograph has just as much of a voice, if not more so, than the designers and the photographers. So it’s interesting to see, thanks to the internet and social media, who thrived in the previous scenario versus who thrives in the current one. Now more than ever it’s apparent who is beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.
So cheers to the weird, the strange, the eccentric. There would be no “fashion” – design would remain static – if there weren’t people willing to push the envelope and in doing so, create a new normal.
Mix and Match: Luis Borges and Raquel Strada at Lacoste SS2018
Two very sportif looks on Luis Borges and Raquel Strada in the Tuileries. Love this mustard color for spring.
Hats Off: Stephen Jones at Christopher Kane SS2018
Acclaimed milliner Stephen Jones and his hats can be found at a fashion show or two – Marc Jacobs, Thom Browne and Dior to name a few. He gamely posed outside the Christopher Kane show in London this fall.
Making the Rounds: Red Coat and White Celine Bag, Outside Lacoste SS2018
This boxy white Celine bag was making the rounds this past fashion month and should be back in full force for spring. Think of it as luxe granny chic. It looked particularly good paired with a bright red coat and heels.
Space Age: Veronika Heilbrunner at Christopher Kane SS2018
All About the Mix, Outside Temperley SS2018
A cool and unexpected mix of a tee with damask culottes and gradient sunglasses outside the Temperly SS2018 show.
Mommy Blogger: Chiara Ferragni at Coach SS2018
If a fashion blogger becomes a mother, what happens to her Instagram feed? WWD today reports on the “baby boom” among fashion bloggers, many of whom started out at age 22-24 and are now nearing 30. Seen here at Coach in September, Chiara Ferragni was several months pregnant at the time, unbeknownst to us, and now sonogram videos and other intimate family moments are interspersed with fashion posts. Many Instagram posts by Chiara and other bloggers like Chriselle Lim, Eva Chen and Arielle Charnas, however, differ from the previous generation’s endless stream of baby pics on Facebook. They’re carefully posed – or hilariously unscripted – moments with kids, who often happen to be wearing great outfits. Instagram’s own Eva Chen was the first-to-market on this trend. Enter the next wave of sponsorships…
Details in All Black, Outside Anya Hindmarch SS2018
Into the Fray: Alexa Chung at House of Holland SS2018
Alexa Chung dashed through the crowd into the House of Holland show in London. Love the unexpected mix of long beaded earrings and a traditional peacoat.
