Black Floral Top and Skirt, Outside Louis Vuitton
A super cute but ladylike look outside the Louis Vuitton show. She’s also carrying the new Louis Vuitton bag.
Maria Kolosova at Gucci
Maria Kolosova of Kyklamasha and Harper’s Bazaar Russia wore a pretty black and white polka dot dress to the Gucci show in Milan. The ace of hearts playing card clutch she carries is by Urania Gazelli – a big hit among the fashion girl crowd. Love how the red matches the lining of the dress. Detail shot of the bag, after the jump. (more…)
Black and White Print Pants, Outside Rochas
Here are more of the new pants for you, looser, expertly tailored, and a little bit cropped in this case. Another development seen on the spring runways as well as the streets: playing with volume in the back of jackets and tops. Designers like Sacai have taken a cue from traditional Japanese garb and added an unexpected pouf to the back of jackets and tops, as on this one. Click through to see the jacket in profile. (more…)
Giovanna Battaglia at Rochas
A really fun moment with Giovanna Battaglia outside the Rochas show in Paris. She wore a (vintage?) Alaia leopard print dress and yellow Fendi bag. Très chic!
Miroslava Duma at Hermes SS2014
Such a cute black and white rooster print coat on Miroslava Duma at Hermès. It’s by A.W.A.K.E., a new London-based label that was spotted on several tastemakers this past Paris fashion week. The bag is Hermès, the matching black and white spats Valentino.
Another styling note: how to wear fall’s voluminous coats if you’re petite like Miroslava? Cinch them with a belt.
Carine Roitfeld at Hermes
If there’s anyone who knows how to rock a sexy pencil skirt, it’s Carine Roitfeld, seen here in all black at the Hermes show, and subject of the fashion documentary Mademoiselle C.
Green and Red, Outside Dries van Noten
Clutches: they’re not just handbags but impromptu umbrellas during a sudden rainstorm. Outside the Dries van Noten show, a guest ducked for cover under a red clutch that matched the red stripe on her green and black tunic.
Blue Suede Boots, Outside Missoni
Boots: they’re one of my favorite things about fall. As sad as it may be to put away flip flops for the next seven months, there’s something eminently satisfying about stomping around in a great pair of boots, as Nancy Sinatra famously noted. A guest at the Missoni show paired these blue suede ones with black knee socks underneath for a cool peekaboo effect, mixed with a crisp black and white dress. Look for more knee-high and over-the-knee boots this fall.
Helena Bordon at Roberto Cavalli
Helena Bordon wore a cool mix of blue-and-white ikat jacket, black suede skirt and Adidas tee to the Roberto Cavalli show in Milan. The zebra-print boots are the finishing touch: not as dressy as stiletto pumps, but just as sexy and more comfortable for stomping around in all day.
Jessica Hart at the Hotel Westin Paris
This was one of my favorite moments of Paris fashion week. We were walking by the Hotel Westin when we noticed this beautiful girl standing outside with her dog. It was model Jessica Hart in a pink lace Valentino dress, about to go to the Valentino show in the Tuileries. Just your average moment of incredible glamour in Paris.
White Dress and Chanel Jacket, Outside Chanel
Such a great summer-to-fall transitional outfit on a guest at the Chanel show. She tops a summery white minidress with a boucle Chanel jacket, black Chanel hat and adds black Chanel boots with a chain motif. The bag is Hermès. This is the luxury version of transitional, but you could also try the same mix with any non-Chanel items you have on hand.
Lynn Yaeger at Comme des Garcons
One of my favorite fashion writers ever, Lynn Yaeger, stopped for a moment outside the Comme des Garçons show in Paris for a photo. Her pretty and feminine outfit is quietly subversive – that’s a skull and crossbones motif woven into the Fair Isle collar. You can take the girl out of New York….
Eva Chen at Sonia Rykiel
Eva Chen, new editor-in-chief at Lucky Magazine and the youngest editor-in-chief at Conde Nast, wore a fabulous Dries van Noten dragon-print coat to the Sonia Rykiel show in Paris. Dries, Dries, Dries: it’s often cited as a fashion insider’s favorite label, and no wonder. The reclusive designer sources gorgeous prints like this one from archives near and far and makes them into wearable works of art.
