Eva Chen at Sonia Rykiel
Eva Chen, new editor-in-chief at Lucky Magazine and the youngest editor-in-chief at Conde Nast, wore a fabulous Dries van Noten dragon-print coat to the Sonia Rykiel show in Paris. Dries, Dries, Dries: it’s often cited as a fashion insider’s favorite label, and no wonder. The reclusive designer sources gorgeous prints like this one from archives near and far and makes them into wearable works of art.
Elisa Nalin at Dries van Noten
Loved this Sonia Rykiel robin’s egg blue look on Elisa Nalin because it’s so simple, but it epitomizes what’s going on in fashion right now. Spring colors are now fall colors and vice versa. (See Marc Jacobs’ dark and moody spring collection for an example.) Another shot of her cool leaf necklace, bag and mirrored sunglasses, after the jump.
Jacquelyn Jablonski at Sonia Rykiel
It was so terrible to learn yesterday that iconic designer Sonia Rykiel has been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for the past 15 years (story in WWD). She has continued on very bravely with her work, drawing quite a stylish crowd to her most recent show in the Tuileries. Here, model Jacquelyn Jablonski exits the show at dusk in a camel coat, white blouse, scarf draped just so, and leather leggings. The acid-green bag with her initials on the tag is the crowning touch.
Emmanuelle Alt at Sonia Rykiel
French Vogue editor Emmanuelle Alt has been wearing white jeans year round for an effortlessly sophisticated look. At the Sonia Rykiel show in Paris, she paired them with a luxe leopard print jacket: high-low fashion at its best.
She has also been a big influence in beauty. Many of the fall shows were styled with models with very little makeup and loose, natural hair, à la Emmanuelle.
Bryanboy at Chanel
Wouldn’t it be great if you could just design your own clothes when you can’t find exactly the right item in stores? That’s what fashion blogger Bryanboy has been doing, picking out fabric and patterns and having his clothes tailor made. The jacket and pants are his own design, the sweater is Sonia Rykiel.
Elisa Nalin Colorblocking at Sonia Rykiel
Indeed, chic stylist Elisa Nalin drew the attention of Craig Arend of Altamira and many other photogs this past fashion month. Outside the Sonia Rykiel show, she tackled the tricky job of colorblocking with ease. The colors may be wildly vibrant, but by repeating the purple, yellow and red in several pieces, she applies a Mondrian-like logic to the look.
7 Days of Anna Dello Russo
Rarely do you see anyone have as much fun with fashion as Anna Dello Russo. Just when we thought she couldn’t top the last outrageously fashionable outfit during Paris fashion week, she would arrive in a completely different ensemble, having gone back to the hotel to change between shows. She favors designers from her native Italy and doesn’t shy from color or pattern. I can’t imagine how she packs the variety of headpieces, boots, suits, furs, jewels and dresses it takes for a single week, but I picture a couple of Louis Vuitton steamer trunks in her hotel room. Hats off to this over-the-top fashion plate who radiates chic sunshine wherever she goes. A seven-day roundup, after the jump. (more…)
Navy Knit Suit, Outside Sonia Rykiel
This British model/actress who attended the Sonia Rykiel show would look good in nearly anything, but there’s one lesson we could all take away: head-to-toe navy looks much more interesting and fresh for spring than head-to-toe black. A sleek adaptation of the nautical trend.
Kanye West and Anna Dello Russo at Sonia Rykiel
This was one of the most dramatic entrances at the Sonia Rykiel show yesterday at Place de la Concorde: Kanye West and Anna Dello Russo, together! We all did a double take. Kanye has been hitting a lot of the Paris fashion week shows and, by the look of his cool red kicks, has a true interest in fashion. Anna Dello Russo wears a beautiful black fur and over-the-knee patent leather boots.
