TBT: Meredith Rollins at Rebecca Minkoff SS2015
Throwback Thursday: I am still thinking about this colorful Tracy Reese paisley skirt my friend and Redbook EIC Meredith Rollins wore to the Rebecca Minkoff show in NY. It would be great go-to piece for holiday cocktail parties.
How to Style It: Olivia Palermo at Nina Ricci SS2015
I love the color burgundy at this time of year. I also love warm turtleneck sweaters, but hate looking schlumpy. Of course, Olivia Palermo managed to style all these things to look quite chic. At the Nina Ricci show in Paris, she ignored the “rule” about not tucking your sweater into your skirt or pants and tucked her burgundy turtleneck sweater partway into a pencil skirt of the same color to emphasize the waistline. Then she topped it with a big statement necklace and added nude heels for a ladylike look. Brava.
Black and Blue: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at Balmain SS2015
I still love the classic combination of black and blue, especially in winter when all black gets so boring. Top model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore a black and blue tuxedo jacket, black leather mini and black ankle boots and monogrammed navy blue bag to the Balmain show in Paris. It’s also amazing how she color-coordinated with her bodyguard – on purpose? The jet setter recently contributed a travel checklist to Who What Wear Daily that was totally personal and totally fascinating – check it out here.
Colorful in Chanel: Eleonora Carisi at Giorgio Armani SS2015
I love this fun, candy-colored Chanel print on Eleonora Carisi’s floaty silk skirt. The takeout container Chanel bag was another covetable item seen on the streets this past fashion week.
Going to New Lengths: Christine Centenera at Bottega Veneta SS2015
Vogue Australia’s Christine Centenera wore a Christopher Kane cut-out top and a slitted skirt that fell to mid-calf level to the Bottega Veneta show in Milan. This was the new hem length on many an editor at the spring/summer shows.
On the Fringe: Micol Sabbadini at Fendi SS2015
If there was one trend takeaway from the S/S 2015 season, it was fringe. It was everywhere: on skirts, on bags, on shoes. A green suede fringe skirt looked beautiful in motion on Micol Sabbadini at the Fendi show in Milan.
White After Labor Day: Ece Sukan at Elie Saab SS2015
You might want to take advantage of the next few days of 70+ degree weather in NYC to wear all white, a trend that kept going in Paris long after August had ended. Turkish Vogue‘s Ece Sukan cut a sharp profile in a white cotton jacket and skirt with a side slit.
Anna Russka at Fendi SS2015
Shiona Turini at Ralph Lauren SS2015
At the Ralph Lauren show in New York, Shiona Turini used her street style clout to make a political point with her “they have names” tee – so names like Eric Garner and Trayvon Martin stay on people’s minds even when we are living in the bubble that is fashion week. Not only that, it actually looked chic.
Hyunjeong Ji and Irene Kim at Ralph Lauren SS2015
Models off duty Hjunjeong Ji and Irene Kim both wore black and white to the Ralph Lauren show in New York – a great graphic punch.
Elina Halimi at Prabal Gurung SS2015
A cool look on Elina Halimi at the Prabal Gurung show yesterday and a great example of the sportswear/couture mashup that’s happening right now.
Susie Bubble at Jason Wu SS2015
Susie Bubble arrived at the Jason Wu show in a particularly brilliant combination of a print Marc Jacobs top, vest and skirt, Prada orange straw fringe bag and blue Louis Vuitton platform heels. Add some green framed sunglasses to top it off. Close up of that Prada bag after the jump. (more…)
Danielle Bernstein at BCBG SS2015
Blogger Danielle Bernstein of We Wore What mixed a leather fringe skirt with flats and a tee at the BCBG show yesterday. The pretty almond color of her skirt also figures prominently in a lot of the spring collections.
Anya Ziourova at Schiaparelli FW2014
Anya Ziourova is one of the best dressed women on the fashion week scene, and certainly one of the best dressed pregnant women anywhere. Rather than sticking to maternity clothes, she adapts current fashion to her changing shape. At the Schiaparelli show in Paris, she wore a green top and skirt with zigzag trim. Close up of her Olympia Le Tan “Greater Love” book clutch, after the jump. (more…)
