Joan Smalls at Chanel SS2014
As a lifelong cat lover, I couldn’t be happier that cats are totally In! Now that my own cat is so on-trend, I won’t have to trade him in for a teacup chihuahua like Paris Hilton – at least not until next season. Model Joan Smalls threw her hat into the Team Cat ring with a cute studded cat-ears headband after the Chanel show. She also wore an amazing Karl Lagerfeld cartoon tee – detail shot after the jump.

Chiara Ferragni at Ralph Lauren
Loved this cute strawberries and florals look on The Blonde Salad‘s Chiara Ferragni outside the Ralph Lauren show.
Susie Bubble at Valentino
Fashion blogger Susie Bubble always stands out in a crowd. At the Valentino show, she wore Chanel shorts (vintage I think) a colorful print top and chunky heels and headphones. The element that brings it all together: the color blue.
Carlotta Oddi at Fendi
Such a cool look on Carlotta Oddi outside the Fendi show in Milan. The tee is Balenciaga. It’s hard to imagine what the fashion flock will do without Balenciaga’s former designer Nicholas Ghesquiere for even one season. So many fashion show attendees were wearing his designs this past fashion week.
Hanneli in the Rain, Outside Alexander Wang
Greetings from NYC. Things have been a little crazy here. This is a photo from another freaky weather moment in NYC, when the skies opened up after the Alexander Wang show and a major thunderstorm ensued. Kudos to everyone who demonstrates grace under pressure no matter what the weather.
Zebra Print Shorts and iPad Cover at Marni
This girl in zebra print shorts and a matching iPad case looked so pretty standing outside the Marni show in Milan.
Frida Aasen Outside Milk Studios
Here’s another new model I love: Frida Aasen, who walked in several big shows this fashion week. Outside Milk Studios, she wore black leather shorts, a white top, and a favorite accessory of models this fall: limited-edition Beats by Dre headphones.
Boating Hat and Shorts, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Another great menswear look from the Jazz Age Lawn Party. Shorts and vests were the way to go – and the boating hat is very charming.
Four Guys in Gray Suits, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Vests have been a popular sartorial choice for men not just at this 1920s-themed party but on the streets of New York. Look for more of them when the weather gets cooler this fall.
Street Chic: Black Vintage Jacket and Sequin Shorts, Jazz Age Lawn Party
At this weekend’s Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governor’s Island, there was a surprising crossover between 1920s looks and goth in several of the guests. Both aesthetics are related to Steampunk and involve a lot of attention to detail, vintage, and a love of costuming. The mashup was pretty brilliant on this young woman, who wore a black vintage jacket with her black sequin shorts and black hat, nicely contrasting with cherry-red lipstick. Very cool personal style.
White Lace Shorts, Madison Avenue
There’s no need to wait until fall to start wearing lace. It’s particularly showing up in shorts, either as an all-over layer or as lace trim. This woman on Madison Avenue – a model off duty? – paired hers with a simple gray tank, Ray Bans, gladiators and a Louis Vuitton bag. Detail shot of her pretty updo and bag, after the jump.
Street Chic: Blue Shorts and a Straw Hat
Here’s another stylish look from a blazing hot Paris fashion week: brightly-colored, high-waisted shorts and a straw topper. If you’ve got legs, shorts are super flattering. Dress them up with a nice blouse and espadrille wedges.
Bonnaroo Street Chic: Leopard-Print Shorts and Doc Martens
Since the original huge American music festival was Woodstock, festival fashion often follows the hippie beat of that era. But as a New Yorker, I liked seeing the edgier looks at Bonnaroo. Military boots like Doc Martens are perfect for tackling dust or mud, and not every print has to be paisley. Try leopard!
Bralet and Short Shorts, Bonnaroo
To beat the heat on the steamy first day of Bonnaroo, many guests wore not much at all. Better to opt for a cute bralet and short shorts like these, however, than just a bikini. It’s a way to keep cool but stay dressed.
