Plaid Skirt and Striped Sweater, Outside Blugirl
Want an instant, free update to your look? Tie a lightweight sweater or shirt around your waist, ’90s style. That’s all you have to do to be right on trend this fall. This guest at the Blugirl show in Milan artfully mixed a plaid skirt with a striped sweater and striped platforms.
Michelle Elie at Blugirl
Garage Magazine‘s Michelle Elie is never afraid to mix it up, pairing a black and white polka dot Comme des Garçons top with black and white polka dot Celine pants and some fabulous Viktor & Rolf platforms in black and white stripes. A shot of those shoes, after the jump. (more…)
Shades of Blue, Outside Armani Prive
Another twist on the colorblocked dress, this time in various shades of blue denim, cotton and velvet on a model off duty after the Armani Privé show.
Miroslava Duma at Dior Couture
Trendsetter and street style muse Miroslava Duma wore a couple of sportswear-inspired dresses during Paris couture week, including this blue and orange colorblocked Dior dress at the Dior couture show. Note that she pairs it with super ladylike accessories. Pearl earrings, electric blue heels and a black Hermès bag keep the look very polished.
Susie Bubble at Valentino
Fashion blogger Susie Bubble always stands out in a crowd. At the Valentino show, she wore Chanel shorts (vintage I think) a colorful print top and chunky heels and headphones. The element that brings it all together: the color blue.
Natalie Joos at Dior
One from the archives – I love these layers of colorful silk for summer, seen here on Natalie Joos outside a Dior show. The red lipstick and accessories add extra polish.
Naomie Harris at Armani Prive
Naomie Harris, who plays Winnie Mandela in the upcoming biopic Long Walk to Freedom, attended the Armani Privé show elegantly turned out in a white cutout blouse and black pencil skirt with silver and black stilettos.
Ulyana Sergeenko at Elie Saab
Russian designer Ulyana Sergeenko appeared at Paris couture this week with a stylish new pixie haircut. At the Elie Saab show, a day after her own well-attended couture show, she paired a purple silk sheath with lace sleeves with Chanel’s wooden box bag and red stilettos.
Punk Look, Astor Place
I’m really afraid to see what all the celebs and fashion people wear to Monday night’s Met Ball for the new punk exhibit. Chances are that the red carpet will make us all feel cynical about the intersection of art and commerce. If a woman at the punk Met Ball really wanted to do it right, she would take an expensive SS2013 designer sheath, rip it to shreds and pin it back together with safety pins.
Fortunately you can still see real punk at Astor Place and St. Mark’s Place, where Kendall wore an all black look with amazing platform creepers, studded collar, black eyeliner, black nail polish and an black vinyl spiked backpack. “I got it at a stripper store,” she said. Now that’s anti-establishment. Accessory and makeup details after the jump. (more…)
JJ Martin at Balmain
This is how to wear brights right now: by pairing them with neutrals, as J.J. Martin did at the Balmain show in Paris. Martin has really mastered the ladylike look, bringing adult polish to trends and making them her own. To wit: the discreet black shoes and bag that finish off the outfit, after the jump. (more…)
Sarah Rutson at Dries van Noten
After fashion week, there are certain outfits I keep coming back to in my mind when I am trying to get dressed myself. This is one of them, on Sarah Rutson outside the Dries van Noten show in Paris. She has styled it so expertly with the layered jackets (a great idea for this still-chilly time of year), navy polka dot blouse, pinstripe trousers, electric blue suede pumps and most importantly, that unexpected pop that comes from the bright Southwestern pattern on her belt. Perfection.
Natasha Goldenberg at Diane von Furstenberg
Natasha Goldenberg wore shades of winter white to the Diane von Furstenberg show in New York. Details of her shoes and shearling coat, after the jump. (more…)
Rainy Day Look in Fendi
A guest at the Marni show wore Fendi from head to toe one rainy Sunday in Milan. The studded, architectural open toe Fendi SS2013 sandals have been a big hit this season, seen on several pairs of fashionable feet outside the shows. Close up of those shoes, after the jump. (more…)
J.J. Martin at Bottega Veneta
I really liked this transitional look on J.J. Martin at the Bottega Veneta show in Milan. It’s warm but colorful, as if she’s just waiting for spring to be sprung! The leopard coat is Emilio Pucci. Close-up of her shoes, after the jump. (more…)
