Sarah Rutson at Bottega Veneta SS2016
Winner for coolest outfit of the day on Saturday: Sarah Rutson riffing on the pajama-dressing trend by wearing actual silk pajamas to the Bottega Veneta show. The velvet platform heels and necklaces dress it up.
Sarah Rutson at Celine FW2014
Sarah Rutson looked fabulous as always at the Celine FW2014 show in Paris. The lace-up booties are Alaia and the diamond-print coat – wait for it – J. Crew! Now that’s mastering the mix.
Sarah Rutson at Missoni
Sarah Rutson left the Missoni show in Milan in a sexy slit skirt mixed with a cropped tweed jacket and white turtleneck sweater. A gorgeous look.
Sarah Rutson in Givenchy
The always-chic Sarah Rutson wore a colorful short sleeved Givenchy “American Dream” sweatshirt to the DKNY show yesterday. Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci has reinvented the lowly sweatshirt as high fashion, starting with his much-copied Rottweiler designs several years back. Look out for more luxe sweatshirts on the fashion crowd this fall. The boots are Balmain.
Sarah Rutson at Stella McCartney
Lane Crawford’s Sarah Rutson really knows how to put an outfit together. Love the rich textures and colors of the embroidered sweater and floral print silk pencil skirt. Then she adds a belt, sleek metallic stilettos and lots of jewelry. It’s maximalism at its finest and a great example of layering during transitional weather.
Sarah Rutson at Dries van Noten
After fashion week, there are certain outfits I keep coming back to in my mind when I am trying to get dressed myself. This is one of them, on Sarah Rutson outside the Dries van Noten show in Paris. She has styled it so expertly with the layered jackets (a great idea for this still-chilly time of year), navy polka dot blouse, pinstripe trousers, electric blue suede pumps and most importantly, that unexpected pop that comes from the bright Southwestern pattern on her belt. Perfection.
Sarah Rutson in Camouflage at Marni
Lane Crawford’s Sarah Rutson was is of the trendsetters who helped popularize cargo pants after they first appeared on the Balmain runway. Outside the Marni show, she wore a new menswear version with laces up the back and a camouflage parka. Sexy and sporty, all at once. Detail shot of the back of the trousers and boots after the jump. Sarah Rutson in a Little Black Dress
Never underestimate the power of a little black dress – even during a heat wave. Sarah Rutson of Lane Crawford styled hers with a black vest cinched with a double-wrapped belt during Paris fashion week. It’s a sleek and stylish way of layering for alternating heat and air conditioning.
Sarah Rutson at Marni
Bright colors and kooky outfits may be catnip for street style photographers like me, but what do you wear if you want to look chic but professional for work? Lane Crawford’s Sarah Rutson sets the bar with her cool business attire. At Marni in Milan, she wore gray layers on top with a hint of pattern and embroidery at the sleeve, plus a luxe leather skirt with a slight teal sheen to it. Pulled together and gorgeous.
Sarah Rutson at Rag & Bone
Sarah Rutson, fashion director of Hong Kong’s Lane Crawford, wore green silk Dries van Noten pants and a black leather jacket to Friday’s Rag & Bone show. It’s a great example of a glamorous, versatile day-to-night outfit, a necessity for fashion week days that don’t end until 10pm or later.
Sarah Rutson at Jason Wu
Lane Crawford’s Sarah Rutson looked gorgeous at Jason Wu in a strapless pleated black dress. But since she is one of fashion’s bellwethers, it’s important to note what she’s wearing: a dress! Sarah Rutson was one of the first to wear all sorts of skinny pants and jeans with platform stilettos in past seasons. This past NY fashion week, however, she wore dresses and skirts almost every day.
Sarah Rutson in Short Shorts, Donna Karan Show
If you barely remember how to dress yourself in anything other than flip flops and shorts, it’s time for a refresher course before NY Fashion Week. Fortunately many of last September’s attendees were so ahead of the curve, their looks can easily be adopted for this fall.
And you don’t necessarily have to give up those shorts. Here, Lane Crawford’s Sarah Rutson wears short shorts with a long necklace, military green Proenza Schouler PS1 bag (always in fashion) and lace-up suede boots, dressing up a sporty chic outfit for the Donna Karan show. (more…)
Sarah Rutson at Chloe
Fashion bellwether and Lane Crawford buyer Sarah Rutson has been wearing a lot of stripes, and you know what that means: everyone else will be wearing a lot of stripes very soon. This chic outfit combines two stripe patterns, fishnets and lace-up heels in Rutson’s signature mix of sporty and sexy.
Addendum: She is in Prada SS 2011 – though Rutson actually improved on the runway styling by mixing up the colors of the jacket and skirt!
Sarah Rutson at Michael Kors
Always ahead of the curve, Sarah Rutson was even a step ahead in her choice of occupations as fashion director at Lane Crawford in Hong Kong – long before editors and designers started flocking to China. Here she wears her signature sporty but feminine look with leggings, a fur vest and fringed scarf. Also note the lace-up boots. (more…)
Chloe SS2011
Chloe’s autumn/winter 2010 collection has already proved highly influential this fall with its wide-legged trousers and camel coats, so the spring/summer 2011 show was a must-see for many. The distinctive colors of Chloe’s fall line were on display on the guests in the Tuileries.
