Bright Idea: Anne V., West Village, February 2021
It was great to see model Anne V. just strolling through the neighborhood yesterday. Even better, she is wearing one of my favorite trends of this winter: bright puffers! If you’re going to be stuck wearing a puffer coat for this seemingly endless cold weather, you might as well make it something cheerful and colorful. This one is Balenciaga, which arguably spearheaded the trend, but there are plenty of colorful thrifted or vintage puffer coats to be had as well. Thanks for stopping, Anne V.

Bright Idea: Sita Abellan at Maison Margiela SS2019
Proof that puffer coats don’t have to be boring, as seen on Sita Abellan. Also stay on the lookout for more bike shorts, which I predict will be the ever-present jorts of 2019 – for better or for worse!
Sporty Spice: Details Outside Stella McCartney FW2018
Sporty accessories, particularly big chunky sneakers, are being mixed with more traditional pieces like the midi skirt for a look that’s entirely modern.
Tina Leung at Paris Couture Week SS2017
Tina Leung wore a great combination of a Raf Simons puffer over a Courreges black and white jacket to Paris couture week. Her hair and makeup are Dior.
Culottes: Leandra Medine at BCBG FW2015
So far the big story in New York fashion week street style has been culottes. These wide-legged pants that hang like a skirt, originally created so Victorian women could do sporty things like go horseback riding, look decidedly modern. Man Repeller Leandra Medine wore a kelly green pair to the BCBG show yesterday, pairing them with a white down jacket and red bandana tied at the throat.
