Chiara Ferragni at Derek Lam
Cheerful pastels like the ones fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni of the Blonde Salad wore to the Derek Lam show are a great way to get into the spring spirit. The pants and sweater are MSGM, the necklace is Dolores Petunia. Pink Valentino bag.
Carine Roitfeld at Balenciaga
Carine Roitfeld mixed animal prints with an Alaia zebra stripe coat and cowhide skirt at the Balenciaga show.
Bette Franke at Bottega Veneta
Model Bette Franke probably had a 6:30 call time on the rainy morning of the Bottega Veneta show, and yet she still managed to dress with this certain je ne sais quoi, as you can see when she exited the show. Love how she mixed prints on the scarf and sweater with a colorblocked coat. The beautiful hair and makeup is from the Bottega Veneta runway.
Giovanna Battaglia at Fendi
Giovanna Battaglia attracted a huge crowd of photographers outside the Fendi show, then she videotaped us with her iPhone. It’s all so meta!! But keep an eye out for this waist-centric, flared 1940s silhouette in outerwear for fall 2013. It was all over the Prada runways hours after Giovanna wore it here. The scarf around her head à la Tippi Hedren was also strangely prescient. Giovanna: a fashion’s bellwether, no matter what the weather.
Black and White Prints, Outside Badgley Mischka
Loved this all-over black and white look on a guest at the Badgley Mischka show. Detail shot of her studded minaudiere after the jump.
Michelle Elie at Lacoste
Michelle Elie of Garage Magazine wore black and white – including graphic print black and white knee socks – to the Lacoste show at Lincoln Center. Close-up of those socks, after the jump.
Candice Lake at Donna Karan
Photographer (and ex-model – can you tell?!) Candice Lake sported this great 3.1 Phillip Lim I [Heart] Nueva York tee to the Donna Karan show at NY Fashion Week. It’s especially cute paired with printed jeans and a red hat. The fur coat is Hockley London.
Elena Perminova at Derek Lam
Tigers have become a key fashion trend since Kenzo made a tiger the center of their sold-out fall 2012 sweatshirts. Elena Perminova was ahead of the curve at last winter’s Derek Lam show, decked out in tiger prints and a cool urban aprés-ski look.
Justin O’Shea at Chloe
MyTheresa‘s Justin O’Shea is always incredibly stylish, but this was one of my favorite outfits of his during all of fashion month. The kickass gun print shirt is Prada. He was one of several men to go high-low this past season by mixing vests or three-piece suits with casual, colorful print shirts.
Black and White Print Sweater, Madison Avenue
We are fully into sweater season now, but sweater dressing doesn’t have to be boring. Big graphic prints and fair isle patterns are showing up on the streets. On Madison Avenue, an oversize black, gray and white horse print sweater added graphic punch to a monochromatic outfit.
Tamu McPherson in Balenciaga Heels
Photographer Tamu McPherson gets the job done outside the Jil Sander show – even in a pencil skirt and amazing Balenciaga booties.
Taylor Tomasi Hill at Carven
After several seasons of booties, I was relieved to see that knee-high and over-the-knee boots are making a comeback this season. You can only have so much of booties – especially if you held onto your boots from seasons past. Here Taylor Tomasi Hill of Moda Operandi wears black over-the-knee boots with a navy miniskirt and navy and white windowpane check sweater from Kenzo.
Viviana Volpicella in a Panda Print Suit
Mega prints like this adorable panda one on Viviana Volpicella made a big impression in Milan. Again, time to rethink the pantsuit. They’re cool!
Linda Wells at Balenciaga
Allure editor in chief Linda Wells brings professional polish to every outfit she wears during fashion week, but I especially loved the mix she wore to the Balenciaga show: Coat with contrasting lapel, mixed prints and a great leather pencil skirt. It looks both pulled-together and très chic.
Black and White Coat, Outside Louis Vuitton
As painful as it may be to wrench yourself away from pretty fall weather, it’s time to start thinking about coats. Though most people seem to go for the most basic, utilitarian coats around, there really *will* be enough cold days in a New York City winter to wear an interesting patterned coat fairly often. This guest at Paris fashion week paired her black and white coat with an aubergine clutch by Louis Vuitton.
