Irene Kim of The Contempt + the Sublime made a big splash at New York fashion week this past season, wearing cool outfits every day. At the Altuzarra show, she wore layers of floral print denim by Topshop, a pale blue coat, pink hat and those shiny new Birkenstocks that may be everywhere come summer.

Jenna Lyons at Altuzarra
The Altuzarra show took place during the day this year, making it a great opportunity for us street style photographers to see some people we don’t always get to see, like J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons. She mixed prints in different shades of blue for a unique look outside the show. Also love how she wore her metallic T-strap shoes with pale gray socks – a clever solution for a cold day.

Here are more of the new pants for you, looser, expertly tailored, and a little bit cropped in this case. Another development seen on the spring runways as well as the streets: playing with volume in the back of jackets and tops. Bring on the heat! One benefit of scorching temperatures: there’s no reason not to break out your most colorful, tropical prints, like these printed pants seen on a guest at New York fashion week. Paring them with a simple black tee and black Hermes bag keeps the look from going over the top, but the blue mesh earrings are still fun, colorful and light.

Parisa at H&M
Whenever I go to parties, I’m secretly on the lookout for fashion inspiration from the other guests. Parisa, who works for H&M, mastered the sartorial mix of work and play at the H&M Conscious Collection party last week. The loose, velvet flocked black jacket has a boho flair for evening, but the crisp white blouse and printed pants (both H&M) are perfectly suitable for work. Most importantly: black ankle boots that have a heel but not too high a heel. You want to be able to work the party!
