Tilda Swinton at Haider Ackermann FW2013
There are a few celebs at Paris fashion week, and I am not all that affected by most of them, but I confess to getting totally starstruck whenever I see Tilda Swinton. Not only is she a great actress (see I Am Love – set in Milan, with costumes by Raf Simons – if you haven’t already), she’s really an inspiration to the fashion industry as a true fashion connoisseur and star of The Impossible Wardrobe.

Seeing Spots, Outside Moschino
If you haven’t noticed, polka dots have been everywhere this fall/winter 2012, a trend that was spearheaded by Marc Jacobs with his F/W 2011 collection. Loved this metallic polka dot dress outside the Moschino show in Milan. If you do not dare to do all-over polka dots, opt for something more subtle but equally fun, like these sheer polka dot stockings by Falke.

Street Chic: Trilby in a Blue Polka Dot Dress, Mister Sunday
I have been wearing and seeing a lot of blue this summer – maybe it’s some sort of psychological antidote to the heat. Blue and white polka dots in particular were on a few guests at the Mister Sunday party, including model off duty Trilby, seen here in a cute Madewell dress.

Black Lace Party Dress, Parsons MFA Exhibit
The little black dress is great for a party no matter what the time of year. Designer Jade Rozenbroek wore a lace dress by COS with polka dot tights to her show at the First Eighteen, the Parsons MFA exhibit. Lace also plays a part in her designs for Jack & Jade, pictured after the jump.

Layers, layers, layers are the key to dressing for chilly spring weather, as Refinery 29 editor Christene Barberich demonstrates outside the Yigal Azrouel show. Another good idea is to swap out black for navy, a more upbeat neutral for spring. The graphic embroidered edge of her jacket and polka-dot socks keep it lively.

Of all the current and runway trends to emerge from fashion week, one thing was clear: the tough biker looks of years past have given way to a new ladylike aesthetic. This black and white polka dot dress with white Prada bag, pearls and Hollywood movie star sunglasses is a great example of the tailored, pretty new look.

Barneys fashion director Amanda Brooks wore lots of fabulous outfits this fashion week, all of which were chronicled in The Cut’s Fashion Week Style Diaries. Here she arrived at the Rag & Bone show in Céline sunglasses, Maje by Vanessa Traina camisole, Giulietta pants, Azzedine Alaïa sandals and a Céline bag.
