White Suit, After Balmain FW2014
Eva Chen at Dior Cruise 2015
I have been struggling with what to do about crop tops. Memories of Jennifer Aniston in red carpet appearances past have clouded my judgment somewhat, because this generation of crop tops is not the navel gazing version that plagued us in the early 2000s. Instead the new crop tops are often paired with high waisted pants and skirts, revealing just the tiniest bit of sexy skin, as Lucky editor Eva Chen did so effortlessly at the Dior Cruise show. I also love her work clutch, the sort of bag you see so often on fashion editors now.
Nina Garcia at Dior Cruise 2015
The fashion world turned out for the Dior Cruise show yesterday in Brooklyn. Nina Garcia, fashion-forward as always, sported one of my favorite trends for 2014: cropped, wide legged pants. They looked great in floral quilting with heels and a black top.
Sara Nicole Rossetto at Ermanno Scervino FW2014
Sara Nicole Rossetto wore all white to the Ermanno Scervino show in Milan – an elegant look for a spring work day.
Anna Ewers at Valentino FW2014
Dressy sweatpants – in leather or otherwise – are really taking off among the fashion folk. Model Anna Ewers wore a pair in black silk after the Valentino show in Paris. Pair them with sneakers as she does here for a look that’s more street, or wear them with heels for evening.
Nasiba Adilova at Isabel Marant FW2014
Loved this elegant look in all white, including a white trench, on Nasiba Adilova at the Isabel Marant show in Paris.
Yellow Sailor Pants, Outside Comme des Garcons
Bright yellow will inject the feeling of spring into any outfit – even though it may still be cold enough for coats.
Pink Squiggle Coat, Outside Just Cavalli
Alissa Wilson at Isabel Toledo for Lane Bryant
Blogger Alissa Wilson of Stylish Curves wore some pretty floral print pants and a hot pink top to the Isabel Toledo for Lane Bryant show last night. Adding florals under a black overcoat is a great way to warm up to spring.
Cream Silk Coat, Outside Max Mara
A beautiful look for transitional spring weather. Outside the Max Mara show in Milan, a guest wore a long black vest under a pale cream silk coat for an invisible layer of warmth. The tomato red pants are a nice pop of color; the jeweled buckle flats are Prada. Also note: again, bared ankles for spring.
Sarah Rutson at Celine FW2014
Sarah Rutson looked fabulous as always at the Celine FW2014 show in Paris. The lace-up booties are Alaia and the diamond-print coat – wait for it – J. Crew! Now that’s mastering the mix.
Blue Silk Coat, Outside Comme des Garcons
With a new season comes a new obsession with coats and jackets. I loved this transitional look on a guest at the Comme des Garçons show in Paris. The blue silk coat is actually a blue leather jacket lined in faux fur and covered with silk. And once it gets warm enough, expect to see more bared ankles like hers.
Michelle Elie at Issey Miyake FW2014
Michelle Elie tends to wear all Comme des Garçons during Paris fashion week, and the Issey Miyake show was no exception. This time it was a fabulous red plaid outfit with designer Rei Kawakubo’s signature complex twists and folds. The gold filigree sunglasses are Dolce & Gabbana and the killer spiked heels (literally, you could probably kill someone with them) are Louboutin. Close up after the jump. (more…)
White Silk Jacket and Black Pants, Outside Issey Miyake
Architectural lines emerged as one of the big trends in the fall/winter 2014 collections. A simple white silk jacket and black pants with white stilettos can look perfectly tailored and elegant.
Elina Halimi at Chanel FW2014
Elina Halimi of Paris’ Kabuki boutique wore a snakeskin print jacket and wide-legged ivory trousers to the Chanel show. This is the new shape of pants for 2014 – wide-legged and cropped to reveal the ankle – and yes, you can wear white boots before Memorial Day. They’re actually great for spring.
