Kate Schelter at Yigal Azrouel
Stylist Kate Schelter and a friend outside the Yigal Azrouël show. They’re both so beautifully pulled together – and this was taken early in the morning! Schelter mixes an army green silk jumpsuit with a classic fur and brown suede lace-up boots. On her friend, a wide-brimmed fedora. Both opted for handbags in caramel leather.
Black and White at Ralph Lauren
A great look in black and white outside the Ralph Lauren show – particularly love the black bow and wool felt aviator hat.

Zero Otto Nove, Arthur Avenue
Whenever a media outlet anoints a place “the best new U.S. pizzeria,” as Bloomberg.com did with Zero Otto Nove in 2008, the debate begins. Pizza aficionados descend to check it out, analyzing the pies according to precise calibrations like sauce-to-crust ratio and “tip sag,” Slice’s measurement of crispness. Is this pizza really the best? Inevitably the pizza shop will be compared to the legendary Una Pizza Napoletana.
Now that Zero Otto Nove is opening a branch in Manhattan in about two months, the stakes are even higher. But the Arthur Avenue original is no pizza joint. It’s first and foremost a restaurant, brought to us by Roberto Paciullo of Roberto’s around the corner. The center of attention may be the huge wood burning oven in the center of the room, but don’t let that distract you from everything else going on here. (more…)
Food Tour: Arthur Avenue
The mission was tough: Take the train up to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx and eat as much food as possible in a four-hour window. But, lured by the promise of an old Italian neighborhood full of pizza, fresh pasta, fish mongers and butchers and guided by an Italian-American sailor friend who’s been going there forever, we were up to the challenge. (more…)
Joanna Hillman at Michael Kors
Many women at fashion week are fashionably dressed, but Joanna Hillman of Harper’s Bazaar is a street chic superstar (not just here but in Japan!) because her personal style is totally relatable. This outfit provides an excellent lesson for all women in mixing patterns: leopard and sailor stripes, both great on their own, can look fantastic when mixed together with a keen eye for proportion and balance. Love the side swept braid, too.
Man in a Fur Coat, Rebecca Minkoff
It wasn’t just the women dressed in madly over-the-top clothes at New York Fashion Week. This guy, accompanying Miss Jay, arrived in a cocoon-like fur coat on a cold day at the Rebecca Minkoff show.
Torrisi Italian Specialties
It sounds like a scenario out of a magazine quiz: “Are You Really a New Yorker?” Would you be willing to wait in line in the bitter cold and pay $50 per person for a candlelit meal in… a deli? The answer should be yes, not because everybody else is doing it, but because the re-envisioned Little Italy fare at Torrisi Italian Specialties is too good to be a passing fad. (more…)
Filipa Fino at Michael Kors
Vogue Senior Accessories Editor Filipa Fino, impeccably turned out in a Chanel dress and button-up over-the-knee boots (which Carine also has) at the Michael Kors show.
Sarah Rutson at Michael Kors
Always ahead of the curve, Sarah Rutson was even a step ahead in her choice of occupations as fashion director at Lane Crawford in Hong Kong – long before editors and designers started flocking to China. Here she wears her signature sporty but feminine look with leggings, a fur vest and fringed scarf. Also note the lace-up boots. (more…)
Trend Report: Long Skirts
You know the maxim: when the economy goes south, so do hemlines. But if long skirts sound dowdy and depressing to you, think again. The skirts on guests at New York Fashion Week came in florals, graphic patterns, pretty pastels or vivid colors in lightweight fabrics like silk and chiffon. Worn with heavy jackets or peeking out from under long coats, the new long skirts provide a flash of color and movement that hints at spring. (more…)
Michelle Kessler-Sanders at Preen
Fashion director of T Magazine Michelle Kessler-Sanders in an army green double-breasted military jacket with tails. Obsessed. Here’s the back: (more…)
Lynn Yaeger at Ralph Lauren
Lynn Yaeger stopped to chat outside yesterday’s Ralph Lauren show. Sometimes I see fashion week regulars on the street after fashion week (month?) is over, and they’re just wearing something basic. Not Lynn Yaeger! Even if she’s just walking down 8th Street in the Village, she’s just as elaborately, beautifully dressed as she is here. She obviously lives and breathes fashion. Head to toe shot with Lanvin bag after the jump. (more…)
Park Avenue, Outside Oscar de la Renta
Oscar de la Renta has always been a favorite with the social set. There’s a certain cadre of women who travel to top shows in New York and Paris to select pieces as soon as they appear on the runway – and the Oscar de la Renta show is a key stop on the agenda.
Addendum: Her name is Susan Tabak, NYC Ballet chair and author of Chic in Paris.
Susie Lau's Shoes, Outside Rodarte
Style Bubble‘s Susie Lau wore the most amazing shoes to the Rodarte show. In white and beige with cork soles, laces and criss cross ankle ties, they were a little bit sweet, a little bit bondage.
