Model of the moment Ruby Aldridge, who walked Saturday’s Alexander Wang show, exited the show in a long sheer black skirt, biker boots, multiple handbags and gray top with a Southwestern motif.

The Clarins Girls at Honor

It’s hard to describe how incredibly glamorous the Clarins girls are unless you’ve seen them in person. Heiresses to the Clarins fortune, tall, blonde and gorgeous, they’re like something out of the Great Gatsby – with the style cred to boot.

Anna Dello Russo, Outside Prabal Gurung

Like many fashionable Italians, Anna Dello Russo appreciates exquisite detail. She arrived at the Prabal Gurung show in a bejeweled satin mini dress and gold Louis Vuitton bag. Very Anna! Her shoes, after the jump.  (more…)

Punk Look, Outside Billy Reid

Another great look from outside the Billy Reid show: part punk, with torn jeans and a skinny tie, part diva with hair piled high, heels and a black patent clutch.

Anna Wintour, Outside Billy Reid

Anna Wintour arrived at Friday’s Billy Reid show in an aqua blue micro print dress, a prescient choice given that prints like these have been all over the runways for Spring 2012.

Nautica Spring 2012

It’s pretty obvious why the Nautica show is one of the most popular every fashion week. Just look at these guys! But beyond that, there was some great fashion, too, especially in the spring accessories.  (more…)

Joanna Hillman, Outside Jason Wu

Street style darling Joanna Hillman of Harper’s Bazaar was back in action yesterday, sporting a cute and creative combination of denim shirt and pleated ivory silk skirt. (I loved her prep secrets for Fashion Week interview from last season – the dreaded rolling rack of outfits must be out again.) Her metallic YSL wedges, after the jump.  (more…)

Linda Fargo, Outside Rag & Bone

One of the most exciting trends to take off this fall is the colorblocking of bright, solid separates. Outside yesterday’s Rag & Bone show, Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo demonstrated her keen eye for color with a DVF top and vintage Guy Laroche red leather skirt, from Alber Elbaz’s term as head designer.

Fashion's Night Out: Instagram Version

Last night we embarked on a failed attempt to document Fashion’s Night Out via Instagram – failed because the huge crowd of tweeting, emailing, Facebooking fashion enthusiasts totally overwhelmed the AT&T network. Seriously, AT&T – get it together.

This may be a bad thing for social networking, but it’s a good thing for Fashion’s Night Out. If the point is to get people excited about shopping, they were certainly excited. Completely whooped up in fact. Though it may not have inspired a lot of actual purchases, Fashion’s Night Out was a great way to see the new fall collections up close and personal – and plan for future splurges. (more…)

All White, Vivienne Tam Show

In a recent interview with various designers, WWD asked them: white after Labor Day, yes or no? Most said yes – with certain conditions attached. It has to look intentional, not haphazard. Here’s a crisp, chic look outside the Vivienne Tam show last September – especially great with neon accessories.

Tertulia

New York tapas restaurants tend to serve as a reminder of what Spain is not. Imagine average New Yorkers drinking wine into the wee hours on a weeknight (I can’t – my job!), strolling into whatever decent restaurant happens to be nearby (Is it buzz-worthy?) and generally putting food second to the act of drinking up the wine, the atmosphere and the company.

We’re just too type A to be Spanish. So the amount of hype surrounding a new, hot tapas place by former Boqueria chef Seamus Mullen almost invalidates it as a Spanish restaurant. It’s supposed to be food without thinking – cuisine that’s tipico(more…)
