Ti Amo, Milano
Fourteen days and what seems like a lifetime ago, Milan Fashion Week was the most enjoyable fashion week I attended this year. The weather was beautiful – sunny and 60 degrees – the clothes were cheerful pops of color, almost everyone was in a good mood, and the living was easy. It wasn’t until the last day that coronavirus started to affect the city. Milan, we are wishing you a return to la dolce vita very soon.
One important fashion takeaway from Milan fashion week: saturated color. This is one of the things Italy has always done best. Again we are seeing monochromatic dressing here, but revved up for spring. Think of it as superhero outfits, separates in the same bright color from head to toe, often a pantsuit. Etro Coat on Nausheen Shah at Carolina Herrera
Farewell, coats: One of my favorite coats of Fashion Month, an embroidered one by Etro, on Nausheen Shah at the Carolina Herrera show.
Nausheen Shah at Creatures of the Wind FW2015
I always look back to the winter shows in NYC some fashion inspiration at this time of year. Despite the chilly temps, Nausheen Shah looked perfectly turned out at the Creatures of the Wind show in an oversize coat, cowl neck sweater, wide brim hat and cuffed jeans.
Nausheen Shah at Issey Miyake FW2015
Big coats with beautiful draping were noticeable everywhere this past fashion week season, including a plaid and dusty pink Johanna Ortiz coat seen on Nausheen Shah. Look for more come fall – or layer a lightweight one on top of an all white outfit right now.
Nausheen Shah at Louis Vuitton FW2015
Nausheen Shah wore a great bronze metallic trench by Tome to the Louis Vuitton show yesterday in Paris.
Nausheen Shah at Elie Saab Couture FW2014
Years after Alexander Wang brought it to the runway, sporty mesh is still being repurposed as high fashion. The intricate texture really brings out the beautiful lines of this ruffled skirt and crop top on Nausheen Shah at the Elie Saab couture show in Paris.
Nausheen Shah at Lacoste FW2014
Another pop of color for you on a gloomy day: at the Lacoste show in New York, Nausheen Shah wore a bright red coat, fur vest and white jeans and carried an awesome “Size Does Matter” clutch – a personalized bag by BOYY bags.
