Justin O’Shea at Chloe
MyTheresa‘s Justin O’Shea is always incredibly stylish, but this was one of my favorite outfits of his during all of fashion month. The kickass gun print shirt is Prada. He was one of several men to go high-low this past season by mixing vests or three-piece suits with casual, colorful print shirts.
Hamish Bowles in a Blue Suit
And in the world of well-dressed men, what would we do without Vogue’s Hamish Bowles? At NYC’s Lincoln Center, his blue suit echoed the cobalt blue seen in collections like Stella McCartney’s for Fall 2012.
Simone Marchetti at Kenzo
Simone Marchetti, fashion editor of La Repubblica, is one of the best dressed men at fashion week and one we look forward to seeing every season. At the Kenzo show in Paris, he paired a Valentino camouflage jacket with white chinos and studded loafers which – ahem – are also available for women.
Men in Sunglasses, Outside Dior
Today marks the start of Pitti Uomo, a huge menswear trade and fashion show in Florence, and while alas I will not be there, this will be the week of men’s fashion. The men of fashion week are always so dapperly attired that when D. asks me what to wear to a fashion week party to “blend in,” I am at a total loss. This sort of attention to detail is not something that can be taken on lightly. Witness these two gentlemen outside the Dior show, the pants, jackets, shirts and scarves so beautifully coordinated, the shoes buffed to a high gloss, their retro shades a nod back to the ’20s. And at fashion week, this is “typical.”
You’re on Camera, Milan
Major accessories: Gold snakeskin iPad cover, paisley scarf, bracelets, watch glasses and sunglasses – not to mention the video camera.
Justin O’Shea at Jil Sander
One of the best-dressed men on the fashion week scene has been My Theresa buyer Justin O’Shea. He often favors three-piece suits, but at the Jil Sander show, he wore one with a twist: this time the purple blazer matches the striped shirt.
David Thielebeule in Dior Homme
Allure Mag’s David Thielebeule is one of the most photogenic people I have ever shot. He always looks amazing! On Sunday, he wore Dior Homme the Diane von Furstenberg show. The leather shirt is a great example of how much more versatile leather has become now. Leather tops and pants have been a big trend outside the tents for men and women.
Leather Sleeve Coat, Outside Timo Weiland
Sunday’s Timo Weiland show drew a lot of snappy creative dressers like this man in a blue coat with leather sleeves carrying a wooden Chanel bag. Scarf print pants like these have been a big trend outside the tents. You don’t have to spend a fortune to get them either, since similar styles are available at J. Crew.
Boating Hat and Shorts, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Another great menswear look from the Jazz Age Lawn Party. Shorts and vests were the way to go – and the boating hat is very charming.
Family in White, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Four Guys in Gray Suits, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Vests have been a popular sartorial choice for men not just at this 1920s-themed party but on the streets of New York. Look for more of them when the weather gets cooler this fall.
Street Chic: Boating Blazer and Saddle Shoes, Jazz Age Lawn Party
This sporty outfit seen may look vintage, but it’s actually a mix of modern day Thom Browne, Ralph Lauren and J. Crew – and testament to how much the 1920s are currently influencing men’s fashion.
Street Chic: Men in White, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Pale suits were all the rage on men at this weekend’s Jazz Age Lawn Party. Crooner Gregory Moore, who would later perform with a troupe of Dreamland follies, even wore a white cape for the occasion. And of course, there’s one accessory you can’t do without at this garden party: a picnic basket.
Preppy Look, Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
Going away for the 4th of July? Depending on your destination, it may be time to brush up on your preppy fashion. At the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, this fellow photographer nailed it with a baby blue blazer, striped oxford, striped belt and loafers. The white jeans are a newer take on the preppy look, but in places like the Hamptons, they work.
Pink Bow Tie and White Chinos, Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
Loved this cooly elegant look on a male guest at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. It’s preppy, yes, but also modern, with two-tone boating shoes and sleek sunglasses. Like many at the polo match, he accessorized with a Veuve Clicquot picnic blanket in their signature saffron yellow.
