Bold Stripes: Margaret Zhang at Marc by Marc Jacobs FW2015
A cool urban look in black leather and stripes in primary colors on Shine by Three‘s Margaret Zhang outside the Marc by Marc Jacobs show. The striped top gets a little softness from the turtleneck sweater underneath.
Helena Bordon at Marc by Marc Jacobs FW2015
A great look in a striped turtleneck sweater and sailor culottes on Helena Bordon at the Marc by Marc Jacobs show yesterday.
Anya Ziourova at Marc by Marc Jacobs FW2015
More red and black! Anya Ziourova attended the Marc by Marc Jacobs show yesterday in black, red and white striped culottes and a double breasted black coat with red and white lapels.
Good Sport: Kyle Anderson at Peter Som SS2015
Let’s hear it for the boys: WWD announced yesterday that the CFDA is starting up a separate men’s fashion week in New York this July. And why not? American men’s fashion is extremely influential around the globe. At the Peter Som show in NY, one of those influencers, Kyle Anderson of Marie Claire, wore an amazing MBMJ Nascar-inspired jacket, mesh shirt and a flight suit, partly undone and tied around his waist.
Kyle Anderson at Tommy Hilfiger SS2015
Kyle Anderson of Marie Claire channeled the sporty chic of fall with this Nascar-esque jacket by Marc by Marc Jacobs.
Solange Knowles at Marc by Marc Jacobs FW2014
It was so cold on the day that Solange Knowles wore this outfit that I couldn’t bear to run the photo until now. But now it is the perfect look for spring: a pink cotton suit mixed with with a colorblock coat.
Justin O’Shea at Marc by Marc Jacobs
The ever-dapper Justin O’Shea of MyTheresa strode into the Marc by Marc Jacobs show in a gray plaid coat, gray three-piece suit, paisley tie and pink shirt. The whole look nodded to current trends (plaid, pink and paisley) but stayed within the parameters of O’Shea’s distinct personal style.
Inside the show, also attended by LVMH’s Delphine Arnaud, there were several big changes: the line is now designed by Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley, appointed this fall, and the new label name will be MBMJ.
Kate Lanphear at Marc by Marc Jacobs SS2010
Another street style meets throwback Thursdays photo for you: Kate Lanphear in September 2009 at the Marc by Marc Jacobs show. Would studs would have taken off the way they did were it not for Lanphear, then the accessories editor at Elle? She started wearing the Eddie Borgo bracelets, and then we started seeing studs on Louboutins like these. Then studs went totally mainstream, and even now they’re still on shoes and bags at Bloomingdale’s. In a 2010 interview, Lanphear professed to shopping at the small shops and vintage places on St. Mark’s Place. It all goes back to Trash & Vaudeville.
Fall 2011 Runway, Marc by Marc Jacobs
Few fashion lines deliver as much high style for your buck as Marc by Marc Jacobs. The fall 2011 lineup featured ’70s colors like burnt sienna and flame orange, but the cuts were quite modern. Notably, there were almost no black clothes or accessories in the entire fall collection. (more…)
Red and White Colorblocked Dress, Outside Marc by Marc Jacobs
A colorblocked dress in red and white delivers a nice jolt of springtime color. Spring dresses are totally wearable right now if you layer them with tights and outerwear. The chunky gold necklace is the perfect finishing touch.
Marc by Marc Jacobs SS2011
There’s a very practical reason to go to a Marc by Marc show: to see what we’ll all be wearing next season. Though the high-end designer shows are an interesting indication of where fashion is going, Marc by Marc Jacobs is a line that many people can actually afford. Thank God the designer doesn’t reserve all his ingenuity for his more expensive labels. Marc by Marc for spring included more ’70s silhouettes of his namesake label, infused with the bright colors of the early ’80s, hitting the sweet spot right between the two eras. Outside, many of the guests wore equally upbeat daywear.
Fabulously avant garde platform shoes. (more…)
