Liz Cabral at Rochas
When spring weather turns gloomy, it’s tempting to revert to your fall clothes. This isn’t necessary a bad thing, though, if you pack a graphic punch as Flare editor Liz Cabral does here. Pairing the black motorcycle jacket with a bright red dress keeps it warm but seasonally appropriate – and the snakeskin boots usher in the spring.
Also, that’s a Tommy Ton for Club Monaco bag – big enough to hold a laptop!
Tanya Dziahileva at Ann Demeulemeester
Supermodel Tanya Dziahileva posed in black leather leggings outside the Ann Demeulemeester show in Paris. Whatever happens in fashion with skirts, dresses, etc. many models favor super skinny black leather looks like this. And why not? It looks fantastic.
Kate Lanphear at Carven
Graphic black and red defined Kate Lanphear’s look yesterday during Paris fashion week. The jacket, red tiger-print sweater and black wayfarers have real urban polish. Meanwhile, cropped black leather trousers could be considered avant garde even in the fashion world, where skinny jeans are still the order of the day. Lanphear is ever the rule breaker in all the right ways.
Sarah Rutson at Rag & Bone
Sarah Rutson, fashion director of Hong Kong’s Lane Crawford, wore green silk Dries van Noten pants and a black leather jacket to Friday’s Rag & Bone show. It’s a great example of a glamorous, versatile day-to-night outfit, a necessity for fashion week days that don’t end until 10pm or later.
Black Shearling Jacket, Prince Street
As much as we street style photographers lament the all-black look, it doesn’t have to be boring. A sleek silhouette, interesting textures and the white shirt make this look – which is Helmut Lang from head to toe – more interesting than your cookie-cutter all black outfit.
Hanne Gaby Odiele at Chloé
Hanne Gaby Odiele was definitely one of the best dressed models off duty this past Paris fashion week. Here she leaves the Chloé show in a laser cut brown leather top, zigzag cardigan and skinny leather pants. A great combination of color, textures and pattern.
Anna Dello Russo at Balmain
Anna Dello Russo posed for dozens of photographers in a window display of gilded mirrors outside the Balmain show yesterday. Love how the studded black and gold dress (Versace SS 2012?) goes with the backdrop!
Kate Lanphear at Prabal Gurung
Notice that Elle Style Director Kate Lanphear is wearing the same thing to the Prabal Gurung show that she wore in this previous photo? It was no accident: Lanphear wore variations of the same all-black outfit every day of NY Fashion Week. For someone who’s one of the most photographed fashion editors around, it was a really interesting statement about personal style. Lanphear’s signature Goth fashionista look may have spurred a lot of trends, but her style is timeless.
Leather Skirt and Top, Harlem's Fashion Row
Harlem’s Fashion Row presented the collections of four local designers on Friday, and a very fashionable crowd came to see the show. Above, Tiger Lily, a guest and New York DJ, in a leather top and skirt from H&M. The head scarf is also a good example of how a little bit of leopard can go a long way.

Leather Skirt, Vivienne Tam Show
Here’s another look from last September’s fashion week that’s still very relevant right now. The leather skirt should be a key piece for fall, especially this one by Joie. Love the necklace, too.
Alexander McQueen SS2011
This much-anticipated show was the first after Alexander McQueen’s tragic death last spring, with his friend and colleague Sarah Burton taking the reins. The show seemed to provoke a bittersweet reaction in some of the guests – you can see strains of the old McQueen in Burton’s designs, since she had been his collaborator for so long. The dark, Gothic sensibility is still there – particularly in this season’s ravishing Alexander McQueen boots designed by Burton – but the spring designs were deftly turned out by Burton’s lighter hand, giving McQueen fans hope for the future of the line.
Alexander McQueen boots are part of a smart new interpretation of evening wear: tuxedo jacket, frilled white blouse, a swingy jet bead necklace and skinny black jeans. (more…)
Chloe SS2011
Chloe’s autumn/winter 2010 collection has already proved highly influential this fall with its wide-legged trousers and camel coats, so the spring/summer 2011 show was a must-see for many. The distinctive colors of Chloe’s fall line were on display on the guests in the Tuileries.

Balmain SS2011
Before there were slim cut cargo pants on every retail floor on every corner, there were slim cut cargo pants on the runway at Balmain. This French label spearheaded the military chic trend that has resonated with consumers over the past few seasons. Slightly androgynous but always sexy, Christophe Decarnin’s designs have quite a following, as evidenced by the cool crowd outside the Le Grand Hotel.
A fabulously tough look. Note the camouflage – a pattern that appeared on several fashion-forward editors. (more…)
