Girl With an Insect Pin, En Route to the Met Ball
An oversize insect pin conjured up the surrealist designs of Elsa Schiaparelli on this guest en route to the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala. A white silk dress and gray fur provide the perfect neutral but elegant backdrop.
Viviana Volpicella with a Bunny iPhone Case
Here’s some Easter inspiration for you: the fashion crowd has been going wild for these adorable bunny ear iPhone cases by Rabito. Viviana Volpicella carried one and accessorized with lots of bracelets outside the Viktor & Rolf show in Paris. Full length shot of her, after the jump. (more…)
New Accessory Line: Sequence
Fashion stylist and former InStyle staffer Ariela Suster recently returned to her native El Salvador to create a line of jewelry and bags. The results were on display at the launch party at Poppy last night: handmade, high-quality accessories that incorporate traditional El Salvadoran craftwork with great materials.
Hanneli Mustaparta at Miu Miu
Photo blogger Hanneli wore an Acne skirt and jacket in white leather to the Miu Miu show with blue gingham Miu Miu earrings, white Miu Miu platforms and a blue Valentino bag. The adorable fuzzy baby blue socks were actually knit for her by her boyfriend’s mom.
Though the outfit looks very spring-y, it’s actually quite warm thanks to Hanneli’s Norwegian know-how. Underneath that leather jacket? Several wool layers!
Eleonora Carisi at Ann Demeulemeester
Eleonora Carisi of popular Italian fashion blog JouJou Villeroy has been making quite an impression on the Milan and Paris fashion week scenes with her beautiful, colorful clothing and playful style. This pop of yellow was a welcome dose of sunshine on a gray day outside the Ann Demeulemeester show. Also, I am really loving the look of a bejeweled necklace worn over a sweater and just beneath the shirt collar for spring. It’s a style we’ve seen on several fashionable girls here.
Giovanna Battaglia at Emporio Armani
Giovanna Battaglia wore clothes from two Italian designers to their shows this past Saturday in Milan: a beautifully embellished dress by Bottega Veneta, and a classic Armani leather jacket. Bellissima.
Catherine Baba at Lanvin
On the opposite side of the style spectrum is stylist Catherine Baba, who really has a flair for drama. She wore a pale pink silk dress with Chinoiserie accessories: a tassel necklace and earrings and a straw hat for the hot weather. The jewelry looks like Eddie Borgo but the design is slightly different. Baba may be about fashion, but she’s not all about labels.
Anna Wintour in Plaid
Anna Wintour, entering the Lanvin show in painterly plaid. Love how her personal style is both classic and colorful.
Snakeskin Pants at DVF
Outside the Diane von Furstenberg show in New York, this model off duty paired a belted blue top with a feather necklace, Fendi bag and snakeskin print pants in one really great ensemble.
Frida Gustavsson at Valentino
Such a great fall outfit on Frida Gustavsson outside Valentino. The casual, slouchy pink sweater and cuffed jeans are balanced out by an art deco statement necklace and suede pumps. The red envelope bag is Valentino, a gift to the models who walked the show. She may not have started out the day with a red bag and pink sweater, but the clashiness is kinda cool.
New Collection: Ranjana Khan for the Limited
Some exciting news for holiday 2011: Jewelry designer Ranjana Khan is launching a diffusion collection for The Limited, available in mid-November. The embroiderer-turned-jewelry-designer has worked with Alexander McQueen and Alber Elbaz, and her necklaces go for $300 and up at stores like Kirna Zabete and Bergdorf Goodman. Prices are still being finalized for the diffusion collection, but expect them to be in the $100 range. The necklace above, modeled by a press agent the other day, would be a gorgeous accessory with a holiday party cocktail dress.
Giovanna Battaglia at Lanvin
Stylist Giovanna Battaglia arrived at Lanvin in a two-tone saturated orange and brown dress tied at the hips. Loved the accessories too: envelope clutch, translucent orange framed glasses and gold choker.
Anya Ziourova at Hermes
At the Hermès show, Anya Ziourova of Russian Tatler wore a gorgeous necklace and botanical print dress that echoed the vivid flora and fauna prints that have been appearing in many spring collections. Full length shot after the jump. (more…)
