Signs of Spring: Martha Hunt at Jason Wu FW2021
A great look on Martha Hunt at the Jason Wu show with some trends we expect to continue. Like everything else in the theoretical post-pandemic world, don’t expect clothes to get back to “normal” right away. We may eventually put away our sweatpants and opt for slightly more tailoring, but things will likely stay long and loose, like these pants on model Martha Hunt or the skirts Wu showed on the runway. Freedom of movement is key.

NYFW SS2021: Safety First, But Make It Fashion
Due to the pandemic, New York Fashion Week was an extremely scaled down affair this season, with only one or two live shows or presentations per day when there would normally be upwards of 10. It certainly felt like another loss in a year full of losses. But the few guests who did attend soldiered on in style.
Most of the fashion crowd has adapted to the new normal by embracing masks, treating them as a key element of an outfit by mixing and matching prints and colors. Some masks were distinct political statements, like Jason Wu’s, emblazoned with the words “Distance Yourself From Hate.” Some were more whimsical, like the Alice + Olivia masks printed with 1960s ladies. Also on the scene was a mirrored face mask and even a “Covidisor” plastic helmet. Over the top, perhaps, but that’s fashion for ya.
Rose-Colored Glasses: Sora Choi, After Jason Wu SS2017
Model Sora Choi in a look that managed to be both goth and feminine, after the Jason Wu show SS2017.
Teddy Quinlivan After Jason Wu SS2017
Model Teddy Quinlivan vamped it up after the Jason Wu show in a vintage-inspired look that included a pencil skirt and custom Peels uniform shirt for “Theodora.” Love it.
Runway Beauty: Mali Koopman at Jason Wu SS2017
You can always tell when models appreciate the runway makeup because, like Mali Koopman after the Jason Wu show, they leave it on when leaving the show instead of taking it off for the next one. A nude face and red lip are a good bet for summer beauty: simple but sophisticated.
Helena Bordon at Hugo Boss SS2016
Silk pleats in an abstract floral print are light and lovely for a summer day in Midtown, as seen on Helena Bordon at the Hugo Boss SS2016 show.
Lovely Layers: Denni Elias at Jason Wu FW2016
Warmer weather means it’s time to experiment with varying sleeve lengths and layers. Denni Elias played up an embroidered floral print top with the shorter jacket arms of a military coat at the Jason Wu show.
Justin O’Shea and Veronika Heilbrunner at Jason Wu SS2016
Isn’t it romantic? Fashion power couple Justin O’Shea and Veronika Heilbrunner arrived at the Jason Wu show in New York in all black. They both have great Instagram feeds that detail their travels around the world.
Michelle Harper at Boss Womenswear FW2015
It has been good to see Michelle Harper again this week at Jason Wu’s shows, both his namesake brand and his collection for Hugo Boss. At the Boss Womenswear show, she wore a green and black dress and green and black fur with Iris Apfel-esque big round sunglasses. Round lenses have been making a comeback in the fashion set.
Emily Ratajkowski at Jason Wu FW2015
Model and actress Emily Ratajkowski can make even a navy dress and tweed coat look sexy, as seen at the Jason Wu show in New York.
Lauren Remington Platt at Jason Wu FW2015
A beautiful, crisp look on Lauren Remington Platt outside the Jason Wu show – and not the first time we’ve seen white boots for winter this fashion season.
Winter Layers: Anmari Botha at Jason Wu FW2014
As New York winter kicks into high gear, it’s time to review how to conquer the weather with style. Model Anmari Botha layered a black leather jacket under a 3/4 sleeve coat and over a black turtleneck and necklace last year at the Jason Wu show. This is a particularly good idea when it’s cold enough to wear your leather jacket even indoors.
