Anna Dello Russo at Michael Kors
It’s great to see Anna Dello Russo in the spring Prada collection, which, with its theme of strong women and representations of said strong women, seems like it was made for her. Maybe it was! Here she is in a SS 2014 Prada coat outside the Michael Kors show.
Kate Schelter at Thakoon
I nearly died when I saw fashion consultantĀ Kate Schelter‘s all-over leopard look and wide-brimmed hat at Thakoon. I mean… how much better does it get?! Here she is in front of the Empire Diner on Tenth Avenue, which, by the way, is now under the stewardship of chef Amanda Freitag and open for business.
Helena Bordon at Peter Som
Another color I am loving right now: pink! A cheerful prelude to Valentine’s Day as seen on Helena Bordon.
Anya Ziourova at Jason Wu
The glamorous Anya Ziourova arrived at the Jason Wu show in a cinched white fur coat and wide brimmed hat, channeling Marlene Dietrich, as have several looks on the runway this season.
Eva Chen at BCBG
Welcome to New York Fashion Week! It’s great to see all our editors out there in their coolest New York looks, like Lucky’s Eva Chen, trendsetting as always in a zebra-stripe coat, nautical hat and chunky creepers. It’s a classic downtown outfit to usher in the new season.
Karl-Edwin Guerre at Etro
I have to keep reminding myself that as a street style photographer, it is possible to look good in bad weather during fashion week. It is possible it is possible it is possible… Case in point: the ever-dapper Karl-Edwin Guerre of Guerrisms seen here on a miserably wet day outside the Etro show in Milan.
Fashion people, take heart and use your clothes as beautiful armor against this snowy weather. I know I will when I hit the streets for New York Fashion Week – starting tomorrow!
Oversized Coat and Sneakers, Outside Cavalli
One of the most talked-about aspects of the recent Chanel couture show was Karl Lagerfeld’s choice of footwear for the exquisite gowns and suits: sneakers. The sneaker trend actually trickled up from the streets. In recent fashion weeks so many of the models off duty and photographers wore running shoes to (sometimes literally) sprint between shows. The good news: they don’t have to be as expensive as Chanel. Nike is fine.
In Milan, a showgoer wore Nike running shoes with a wide brimmed hat and oversize coat, feminizing the look by leaving a little bit of ankle exposed. Try it when it gets warm enough to expose some skin.
Katlin Aas, After Trussardi
Model Katlin Aas has a cool, laid back style that’s casual but never haphazard. In Milan she conquered the cold with lots of layers under a leather jacket, an oversize scarf and beanie hat. Also like how she has styled the lace-up boots with wool socks for an outdoorsy look (also practical in the snow).
Printed Parka and Boyfriend Jeans, Outside Etro
A cool parka goes a long way in winter. This one outside the Etro show in Milan was printed with fox tails – still glamorous but friendlier than the real thing. Boyfriend jeans and heels add to the mix.
Tamu McPherson at Lacoste
A great coat goes a long way towards keeping you in style and warm, like this graphic black and white print coat onĀ street style photographer Tamu McPherson of All the Pretty Birds.
Graphic Print Top, Outside Prabal Gurung
One easy way to break out of the all-black rut in winter is to add just one graphic print to the mix, like this guest at the Prabal Gurung show.
Lobster Print Skirt, Outside Prabal Gurung
I am always dying for a sartorial shot of color at this time of year. Bright reds and oranges make a statement outside the Prabal Gurung show with this lobster print skirt.
White Lace Dress and Plaid Jacket, Outside Chanel
I love this combination of a formal gown made of exquisite white lace with a casual beret and plaid jacket. The jewelry and Chanel bag take it up a notch further, styling-wise. Very French, very Chanel.
Chiara Ferragni at Etro
Green Tweed and Velvet, Outside Armani
Love the saturated moss green of her velvet blazer and how it plays off the green in her tweed pants. Also, burgundy and green is one of my favorite color combinations for fall.
