Bundled Up: Catherine Baba at Margiela Couture SS2017
Hats Off: Stephen Jones at Christopher Kane SS2018
Acclaimed milliner Stephen Jones and his hats can be found at a fashion show or two – Marc Jacobs, Thom Browne and Dior to name a few. He gamely posed outside the Christopher Kane show in London this fall.
Winter Is Coming: Irina Shnitman and Ania Chiz at LFW SS2018
Two looks for when you don’t know which way the weather is turning, but know that it could turn bad at any minute.
Mommy Blogger: Chiara Ferragni at Coach SS2018
If a fashion blogger becomes a mother, what happens to her Instagram feed? WWD today reports on the “baby boom” among fashion bloggers, many of whom started out at age 22-24 and are now nearing 30. Seen here at Coach in September, Chiara Ferragni was several months pregnant at the time, unbeknownst to us, and now sonogram videos and other intimate family moments are interspersed with fashion posts. Many Instagram posts by Chiara and other bloggers like Chriselle Lim, Eva Chen and Arielle Charnas, however, differ from the previous generation’s endless stream of baby pics on Facebook. They’re carefully posed – or hilariously unscripted – moments with kids, who often happen to be wearing great outfits. Instagram’s own Eva Chen was the first-to-market on this trend. TBT: Plaid Coats in the Snow, Day 1 of NYFW
On this stormy and snowy day, I am definitely having flashbacks to the very first morning of New York Fashion Week last February, when another snowstorm hit New York. Still editors and buyers trekked to the shows.
New Kid on the Block: Gisele Fox at Prada SS2018
One of my favorite new models on the scene: Gisele Fox of Seattle, who closed the Prada show this season. Not only is she genuinely nice, she has a unique gamine look and great personal style.
Voguez: Jaden Smith at Louis Vuitton’s Volez Voguez Voyagez NY
Have a Good Time: Binx Walton at Dior SS2018
Binx Walton, still very cool and low key after all her success, including starring in this season’s Celine ads. Her “have a good time” sweatshirt was a welcome sight in the hectic scene outside the Dior show.
Keeping It Crisp: Yellow Tunic and Jeans at NYFW SS2017
A straw hat and bright yellow tunic over jeans and mules made for a great transitional look at NY Fashion Week in September.
Vintage Appeal, NYC June 2017
Seen on the streets, a combination of vintage and new items that adds up to timeless chic.
Dose of Color: Elina Halimi at Alberta Ferretti FW2017
Here’s one color trend we’re still seeing a lot of: bright yellow, as spotted on Elina Halimi at the Alberta Ferretti show. This perennially happy color is a nice way to welcome the summer.
Red and Blue: Aimee Song at Chanel FW2017
Aimee Song wore the color combo of red and blue to the Chanel show in Paris. The chambray jacket and skirt are a great way to welcome the warmer weather – and these Chanel mules are particularly popular with the fashion crowd.
Throwback Thursday: Caroline Seiber at Chloe FW2012
A good indicator of great style: An outfit from five years ago still looks au courant today, as with Caroline Seiber at the Chloe show in the Tuileries in March 2012.
Into the Storm: Jian DeLeon at NYFWM
One for the New York Times last week: Jian DeLeon headed out into a snow storm to get to the menswear shows. A baseball cap is actually a great idea for shielding the snow.
Olivia Palermo at Alexis Mabille SS2017
Step to it! Olivia Palermo wore a military look to the Alexis Mabille show during Paris couture week.
