Fall Look, Washington Square Park
Texture comes into play when it’s time to bundle up against cool weather. Love her mix of a nubbly knit hat and patterned scarf – a good way to make a cozy outfit look modern.
Ulyana Sergeenko at Valentino
The beautiful and stylish Ulyana Sergeenko of Glamour Magazine Russia certainly has a flair for drama, as evidenced by this full length plaid dress and bustier paired with a jaunty hat. The look is goddess of the hunt, high fashion version.
Arizona Muse at Hermès
Arizona Muse rocked her trademark cowboy hat when she left the Hermès show in Paris. The black bra under a sheer white shirt is a particularly sexy interpretation of the black and white trend.
Seventies Look, Outside Carlos Miele
Personally I’m loving the ’70s look for this fall. The wide legged jeans (J Brand, I believe) and floppy wide brimmed hat are so Love Story, conjuring up a romanticized collegiate vibe of years past.
Roxane Mesquida at Dior
Gossip Girl actress Roxane Mesquida almost escaped unseen outside Dior, where she was partially disguised by a big floppy teal hat. Love the mix of saturated jewel-tone colors that are very big for fall 2011. The bag is Dior.
Modified Lumberjack Look, Outside Rag & Bone
I have an officemate who’s out to singlehandedly destroy the popularity of the lumberjack look in Williamsburg by introducing new trends – rave, retro ’80s, anything but Taavo Somer woodsman style. But lumberjack, like leopard, can still acceptable in moderation. This guy at the Rag & Bone show balanced the beard and plaid shirt with crisp cuffed jeans, Ray Bans, and a nice cognac leather bag and boots for a look that’s more urban than back woods. Williamsburg, are you listening?
Marina Muñoz, Outside 3.1 Phillip Lim
Stylist and street style darling Marina Muñoz arrived at the 3.1 Phillip Lim show in an adorable Western outfit, complete with kerchief tied at her neck and a wide brimmed outback hat. She has a real talent for picking out hats, which always give her outfits a jolt of individuality in a sea of fashionable people. This hat is a classic and a reference to her native Argentina. Full shot after the jump. (more…)
On the Grass, Jazz Age Lawn Party
On the Dance Floor, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Big band jazz by the Dreamland Orchestra might have been old fashioned, but it was certainly danceable. The vintage fashion came alive on the dance floor. More photos after the jump. (more…)
1920s Menswear, Jazz Age Lawn Party
Many of the men at the Jazz Age Lawn Party wore knickers and argyle knee socks, a look that would have been considered positively relaxed and sporty in the 1920s. But men have it slightly easier than women when it comes to recreating ’20s fashion: vests, ties and newsboy caps like these are still being made today.
Black and White Polka Dots, Fifth Avenue
Keep an eye out for polka dots this fall, when the nautical stripes have been stowed away. They were a hit on the Marc Jacobs fall 2011 runway, often mixed in various sizes as seen here on Fifth Avenue.
White Overcoat in the Rain, Fifth Avenue
I always find it difficult to figure out what to wear on rainy summer days. This white cotton overcoat was a practical, lightweight and pretty solution at the Central Park Conservancy Luncheon. The earrings are Chanel.
Think Pink, Union Square
Retro, high-waisted 1950s shorts are making a comeback in a big way this summer. Here they look great worn with a floppy wide-brimmed hat with heels and pink accents throughout for extra pinup girl appeal.
Red Dress, Houston Street
A red dress gets accessorized with a straw hat for a great spring to summer transitional look.
Mother Daughter Duo, Central Park Conservancy
Two great looks on a mother-daughter duo at the Central Park Conservancy luncheon.
