Anastasia Chekry at Ulyana Sergeenko Couture FW2015
A pretty look in a black and white romper on model Anastasia Chekry, still in hair and makeup from the Ulyana Sergeenko couture runway.
Araya Hargate at Chanel Couture FW2015
Actress Araya Hargate wowed at the Chanel couture show in an all-Chanel military look with a Napoleonic twist. Detail shot of the Chanel bag, jacket and skirt, after the jump. (more…)
Ruffle Top and Hip Bag, MAC + Mia Moretti Coachella 2015 Party
Two big trends we saw at Coachella: hip bags a.k.a. fanny packs – logical because they’re a hands-free way to carry your stuff while you’re at a concert – but also ruffles, which was more surprising to me. Big feminine ruffles were everywhere on tops and dresses, perhaps stemming from the prairie chic on the runways for spring 2015.
Polar Vortex Fashion Week: Outside Jason Wu FW2015
This is about how cold it was on the streets today. The polar vortex has pushed temperatures well below freezing right during New York Fashion Week, and we’re bracing for more cold and snow this weekend. At least the fashion set is doing this cold thing in style.
Pretty and Pulled Together: Blair Eadie at DVF FW2014
Fashion blogger Blair Eadie of Atlantic Pacific looked perfectly polished at last winter’s Diane von Furstenberg show in a coat and boots with a cracked leather design and upswept hair.
Natalya Bogacheva at Rick Owens SS2015
Moi, je ne suis pas Charlie.
I am not nearly as daring or provocative as the cartoonists and editors behind Charlie Hebdo. But like many I am drawn to the provocateurs. Artists and free thinkers are indelibly associated with the city of Paris and should be always. In the world of fashion they would be the punks or those who dare to wear the crazy things no one else would. At the Rick Owens show, Natalya Bogacheva was one of them, donning Thom Browne’s rabbit ears hat and mask to twirl in front of the Eiffel Tower. Vive la Paris.
White Silk Jacket and Black Pants, Outside Issey Miyake
Architectural lines emerged as one of the big trends in the fall/winter 2014 collections. A simple white silk jacket and black pants with white stilettos can look perfectly tailored and elegant.
Plaid Pants and Cropped Sweater, Outside Miu Miu
A cute look on a fashion fan girl outside the Miu Miu show. We may be veering away from crop top weather right now, but this would still work under a coat. Also note the creepers!
All Black Vintage Look, Outside Rodarte
Here’s more black for summertime, this time on a guest at the Rodarte show dressed head to toe in vintage. The perfectly tousled hair gives the whole look a Stevie Nicks-ian quality.
Julia Sarr-Jamois at Moschino
Julia Sarr-Jamois stood out in the snow after the Moschino show yesterday, looking great as usual. But most importantly: how awesome is her jacket?!? The monogramming takes varsity jackets to a whole new level of fashion – a varsity level, in fact.
David Thielebeule at Timo Weiland
David Thielebeule, who recently moved from Allure to become fashion market and accessories director at WSJ, also wore blue and black to the first day of shows at Lincoln Center. He’s also sporting a cool new haircut with shaved sides that nods to ’90s punk. Men: take note.
White Lace Shorts, Madison Avenue
There’s no need to wait until fall to start wearing lace. It’s particularly showing up in shorts, either as an all-over layer or as lace trim. This woman on Madison Avenue – a model off duty? – paired hers with a simple gray tank, Ray Bans, gladiators and a Louis Vuitton bag. Detail shot of her pretty updo and bag, after the jump.
