Sarah Rutson at Marni

Bright colors and kooky outfits may be catnip for street style photographers like me, but what do you wear if you want to look chic but professional for work? Lane Crawford’s Sarah Rutson sets the bar with her cool business attire. At Marni in Milan, she wore gray layers on top with a hint of pattern and embroidery at the sleeve, plus a luxe leather skirt with a slight teal sheen to it. Pulled together and gorgeous.

Susie Lau at Lanvin

Style Bubble’s Susie Lau, aka Susie Bubble, was beautifully and quixotically attired all week, often opting for emerging designers or vintage when everyone else went for the big established names. At Lanvin in the Tuileries she wore a palette of grays, pinks and blues, spring’s new neutrals.

Layers of Gray, Nautica

Though in my last post I complained about the sea of gray at NY Fashion Week, I’m now going to do a 180 and post this photo of a guy in gray. Why? Because saying one thing and turning around and doing the opposite is so fashion, darling!

But really: one advantage of a neutral palette is that it brings the focus to texture and material, like this chunky knit sweater under a herringbone wool coat and a plaid hat. The unzipped patent leather boots keep it from getting too conservative.
