Paris Chic: Outside Loewe FW2020
Rachel Sussman and Rachel Brosnahan at Prada FW2020
These two were just idling quietly by the curb, unnoticed by the mostly European crowd outside the Prada show, when I spotted them and quietly freaked out: Rachel Brosnahan and her BFF, producer Rachel Sussman. Having just streamed all of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, it was all I could do to hold myself together. If you are missing fashion and/or New York City right now, Mrs. Maisel will give you a much-needed dose of glam.
Emmanuelle Alt and Francoise at Carolina Herrera FW2020
WFH Fit: Easy Being Green, Outside Hellessy FW2020
Another great monochrome sweatshirt and sweatpants look – pretty and cozy.
WFH Fit: Saturated Color, Outside Max Mara FW2020
Saturated color is one of my favorite things to see on the other end of a video call. Bring it! Even before the pandemic, there was a shift away from all black, and as you probably now know, it doesn’t photograph well. (Not to mention it adds another layer of gloom we don’t need right now.) This look is dressed up enough for a client call but roomy enough for sitting at your desk all day. Again note the chunky necklace: a key styling element.
WFH: Blue Sweatshirt and Pants, Outside Collina Strada FW2020
While the overarching story during fashion month was about tailoring (what’s that again?!), for every trend there is a counter trend, and this one was comfy, colorful sweatshirts and sweatpants – in other words, outfits that would be perfect for cozying up at home.
Easter Vibes, Outside Brock Collection FW2020
Trench Coat, Outside Michael Kors FW2020
April is definitely trench coat weather in NYC and environs. Here’s an excellent example of the form on a gloomy day outside the Michael Kors show. Leg of mutton sleeves like these have been going in and out of style since, oh, about the fifteenth century. They add a touch of whimsy and luxury to a wardrobe staple.

Retro Chic: Marina Ingvarsson at Collina Strada FW2020
If you only get to step out once a day, make your outfit a great one! A timeless look on Marina Ingvarsson, seen this February at the Collina Strada show.
Green Layers, Outside Sies Marjan FW2020
Such a great and individualistic look outside New York’s Sies Marjan show, where you can always find interesting people. Love the accessories and her tone-on-tone layering of different greens, a color we saw a lot of during fashion month.
Zebra Is the New Leopard
Among the many big question marks hanging over the fashion industry, which has been devastated by the closure of retail stores, order cancellations, layoffs and supply chain disruptions, not to mention actual Coronavirus cases among those in the industry, is the mystery of what we will all be wearing when infections subside and we finally emerge from our homes. An entire season of the fashion calendar, vanished. Will we pick up where we left off? Will we start again in a totally different place? And how will trends emerge without the visual cues we pick up from each other on the street?
There is a lot to be gleaned about what people are wearing from Instagram, Tik Tok and video conferencing. One thing’s for sure: an interesting print certainly stands out on Google hangouts, even if you only dress the top half of your body. Zebra was the print of the moment by the end of this fashion month, hedging out leopard for spring. File under: things that might have been trends. (more…)
Elaine Welteroth at Coach FW2020
Elaine Welteroth is such a star right now but still remembered a few of us street style photographers from her Teen Vogue days. Super stylish, and super nice too! Her Instagram feed is also inspiring in these trying times – one to follow if you want some uplifting content.
Rainbow Coat, Outside Concept Korea FW2020
Spring Forward: Belted Coat, Outside Self-Portrait FW2020
A great look outside the Self-Portrait show in NYC. Belted coats are still going strong, and I’m really feeling this bright kelly green color for spring.
