Outside the Café de la Musée, After Dior
Twice a year after the Dior fashion show at the Musée Rodin, this unassuming little café around the corner becomes a hotbed of fashion. A woman in an exquisite green brocade pantsuit stood under the awning with several other guests from the show.
Eleonora Carisi at Ann Demeulemeester
Eleonora Carisi of popular Italian fashion blog JouJou Villeroy has been making quite an impression on the Milan and Paris fashion week scenes with her beautiful, colorful clothing and playful style. This pop of yellow was a welcome dose of sunshine on a gray day outside the Ann Demeulemeester show. Also, I am really loving the look of a bejeweled necklace worn over a sweater and just beneath the shirt collar for spring. It’s a style we’ve seen on several fashionable girls here.
Kate Lanphear at Carven
Graphic black and red defined Kate Lanphear’s look yesterday during Paris fashion week. The jacket, red tiger-print sweater and black wayfarers have real urban polish. Meanwhile, cropped black leather trousers could be considered avant garde even in the fashion world, where skinny jeans are still the order of the day. Lanphear is ever the rule breaker in all the right ways.
Hanne Gaby Odiele in Dries van Noten
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked a top editor/buyer/stylish at fashion week what they’re wearing, and the succinct answer is: “It’s Dries.” Belgian designer Dries van Noten is one of the most prized labels by fashion insiders, and when you see his designs up close, as on model Hanna Gaby Odiele, it’s easy to see why. The silk jacket and top from the spring/summer 2012 collection are a collage of digitally printed seventeenth-century botanical etchings and a jungle scene. Almost as gorgeous as Hanna Gaby herself.
And a beauty note: a lot of the top models have been wearing dark, ruby red lipstick this fashion week, in a sort of inversion of fall and spring color palettes.
Tamu McPherson, Natalie Joos and Elisa Nalin at Roberto Cavalli
This was such a cute moment outside the Roberto Cavalli show. And no – this picture isn’t photoshopped. These three trendsetters were really wearing colors this bright!
Missoni Dress and French Bulldog
What better way to accessorize for a fashion show than with an adorable dog? This guy, “Biggie,” posed for the cameras after the Missoni show with his owner, clad in a Missoni dress and green blazer. Another shot of Biggie after the jump. (more…)
Anna Wintour at Giorgio Armani
American Vogue was the most successful fashion magazine of 2011, increasing ad pages during a year when most magazines lost them. Because of its sheer size, it’s a big commitment to lug a copy of Vogue all the way from New York to Milan, but I did. Under Anna Wintour’s stewardship it’s still the thinking person’s fashion magazine, with wonderful essays and memoirs, not to mention Grace Coddington’s beautiful art direction.
The impeccably dressed Wintour is still the queen bee of fashion week. And street style photographers are overjoyed that, if she must travel with bodyguards, at least now they walk behind her. We can finally see what she’s wearing!
Linda Fargo at Etro
Here are some more bright pants for you, on Linda Fargo at Etro, mixed with a colorful fur scarf. They look so great in the spring light, especially now that the weather’s warming up in Milan. Though there are some skinny jeans in bright colors for spring, flared, tailored trousers in bright colors are particularly chic. The bag is Valentino.
Caroline Issa at Marni
Loved this houndstooth jacket and top and neon red pants on Caroline Issa at Marni. If you ever want to know what the fashion world is up to at any given moment, follow her entertaining feed on Twitter.
Giovanna Battaglia at Emporio Armani
Giovanna Battaglia wore clothes from two Italian designers to their shows this past Saturday in Milan: a beautifully embellished dress by Bottega Veneta, and a classic Armani leather jacket. Bellissima.
Hanne Gaby Odiele Eats an Ice Cream Cone
Model Hanne Gaby Odiele ate a gelato after exiting the Jil Sander show, and a media frenzy ensued. The expression is priceless, but also, I love what she’s wearing. There are tones of pastel pink and blue in the fisherman’s knit sweater that echo the colors in the skirt. Hanne Gaby is definitely one of the best dressed models around.
Red and White, Outside Etro
Leaf Greener in Blue and Red
Love the superhero-bright colors on Leaf Greener of ELLE China. The pom pom hat and kitty cat bag makes the look even more playful.
Magdalena Frackowiak, Exiting the Fendi Show
Shades of Yellow, Outside Max Mara
Shades of yellow make up a feminine, springy look outside the Max Mara show in Milan. The black boots give it a little edge.
