Susie Lau at Chloe
Layering dresses over pants was a big trend on the runway for fall 2012, but few have been able to carry it off in real life as well as Susie Lau of Style Bubble. Outside the Chloe show she mixed prints in bright red and blue with a blue cardigan, two handbags and red Valentino shoes.
Floral Dress and Striped Blazer, Outside Dolce & Gabbana
A pretty and colorful combination of floral prints and stripes on a redhead outside the Dolce & Gabbana show.
Anna Wintour at Donna Karan
Anna Wintour wore a beautiful white floral print dress and statement necklace to Monday’s Donna Karan show, which received rave reviews.
Floral Dress and White Turban, Jazz Age Lawn Party
I think I will always love turbans, especially white ones. Blame it on Lana Turner in The Postman Always Rings Twice. It just adds an extra level of elegance to any look, as with this vintage silk floral dress and cute heels with socks at the Jazz Age Lawn Party.
Street Chic: Thrift Store Floral Dress, Mister Sunday
At the Mister Sunday party, this guest from College Fashionista was one of several to wear a cute and colorful dress found at a thrift store. Blame the economy, but it seems we’ve come full circle back to New York’s vintage shopping height of the mid-’90s, when Broadway thrift store Antique Boutique was cooler than any Madison Avenue flagship. If you’re craving new summer fashion but your clothing budget is already maxed out, remember: there’s always Beacon’s Closet for cheap chic.
Street Chic: Stefany in a Vintage Floral Dress
Stefany Mohebban of the style blog Pretty in Thrift wore this cool vintage floral dress to this weekend’s Mister Sunday party in Brooklyn. The necklace is vintage too. I’ve also been noticing bright fuchsia lipstick on a lot of trendsetters.
Floral Frock, Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
A floral frock looks so elegant for a daytime summer party. At the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, this guest paired hers with the traditional wide-brimmed hat and nude peep-toe shoes. Why are nude shoes the trend that never ends? Because they make your legs look never-ending.
Julia Sarr-Jamois at Marni
During fashion week we had no idea that Julia Sarr-Jamois, editor of Wonderland, was going to be modeling in two big spring campaigns, but the results for Tibi and Barneys are quite beautiful. Here she is – a model off/on duty? – in an elaborate floral embroidered black patent leather jacket at Marni.
All Over Florals, Outside Rodarte
Florals from head to toe have never looked as good as they do this season, especially in pants suits. A distressed leather jacket makes the outfit more edgy than garden party.
Prints Please
Digital printing has made even the most complex patterns a reality, as Holli Rogers and Natalie Massenet demonstrate with two intricately printed dresses, one a snakeskin pattern, the other a floral, seen here outside the Chloe show in Paris.
Girl in a Floral Dress, Outside Chanel
The Chanel show in Paris always attracts all sorts of fashion fans, some there to take photos, some there to just take in the scene. This girl arrived in a vintage-looking floral dress with a belt artfully twisted around. The socks and boots are also great for fall.
Postscript: This is Doina Ciobanu from The Golden Diamonds – both taking photos and taking in the scene!
Floral Dress, Union Square
Fashion has gotten decidedly more feminine this season, with last summer’s boyfriend jeans and racer back tanks giving way to maxi skirts and dresses and lots of floral prints. Above, shopping in Union Square in a flirty, feminine dress paired with flat metallic sandals.
Accessorizing With Flowers, Outside Valentino
Here’s another way to accessorize with florals this spring: carry a bouquet. This industry insider was often spotted with fresh flowers on the way to the shows. The fleurs are not only a nice gesture but a beautiful burst of color that plays off her electric blue and green Prada fur scarf.
Tweed Jacket Embellished With Flowers, Outside Chloe
If, like me, you get stuck in a rut and keep wearing black and gray even though it’s spring, take a cue from this model off duty. She may be wearing a black cowl neck sweater and black lace skirt, but she tops it off with a colorful tweed jacket adorned with flowers. Making an effort!
