Greenmarket Style, June 2020
For the past decade or so, New Yorkers haven’t dressed up much to walk around the neighborhood or run errands. That seems to be changing slightly as the economy opens up a bit more while gyms stay closed. This time we know for sure you aren’t schlepping around in yoga pants because you just came from a class. There was no class! We also may be finally tiring of athleisure.
Case in point is the Union Square Greenmarket, which is thankfully open, ready for business and well-managed for social distancing – and a good place to show off a real outfit. These two wore one print that keeps popping up, especially in face masks – tiny florals. Pretty and old-fashioned, they’re just what the summer ordered.
Retro Chic: Marina Ingvarsson at Collina Strada FW2020
If you only get to step out once a day, make your outfit a great one! A timeless look on Marina Ingvarsson, seen this February at the Collina Strada show.
State of Hawaii, Astor Place June 2018
Another tropical look in the NYC heat this week. Bonus: this is one Hawaiian shirt you could actually wear to the office!
In the Tropics: Lafayette Street, June 2018
New Yorkers shed layers and put on floral and tropical prints this week as the temperature soared into the 90s. On Lafayette Street, a matching floral skirt and crop top plus a great accessory: French wine crate as bike basket.
Bright Idea: Pink Bag and Shoes on Roopal Patel at Prada Resort
More of that bright pink at Prada. Roopal Patel, the fashion director of Saks Fifth Avenue, certainly knows her accessories! (more…)
Saturation Point: Cherry Red Florals, Noho, April 2018
Normally I wouldn’t associate bright, saturated cherry red with spring, when pastels are usually the order of the day, but this color has been everywhere in NYC this season, especially on coats and jackets. Bright red flowers stood out on this robe coat in Noho.
Howdy, Neighbors: Emily Blunt and John Krasinski at Variety’s Power of Women Luncheon
These two actually stay near me when they come upstate. I guess I shouldn’t be alarmed that the couple that directed and starred in the terrifying “A Quiet Place” is nearby… as I’m lying there in the pitch blackness at night… in complete silence… no street lights… nowhere to run….
You *Can* Sit With Us: the “Mean Girls” Cast at Variety’s Power of Women
Cute looks all around on Taylor Louderman, Erika Henningsen, and Ashley Park of Broadway’s “Mean Girls” at Variety’s Power of Women luncheon. Seeing a lot of long chiffon floral dresses already this spring. The starlets were actually quite nice… as far as I know…
Winning: TK Wonder and Cipriana Quann at Variety’s Power of Women Luncheon
So there were a lot of celebs at Variety’s Power of Women luncheon in NYC on Friday – it recognized philanthropic women in the entertainment industry – but these two familiar faces from fashion week were seriously #winning for best spring outfits. If TK Wonder and Cipriana can’t get you inspired for more spring fashion, nothing will!
Step to It: Floral Boots, Outside Kate Spade FW2018
These colorful Balenciaga boots are always a welcome sight, but especially when we’re wishing for more actual flowers in NYC.
Caught in the Breeze: Kim Jones at Creatures of Comfort FW2018
First Bloom: Lucy Chadwick at Collina Strada FW2018
Lucy Chadwick in an outfit that would work well today in NYC: the boots and coat can handle the slush, but the sheer floral skirt hints at spring.
Street Style Sashay, Outside Giambattista Valli FW2018
It’s not a performance if you don’t have an audience! Drivers at Paris Fashion Week observed a street style shoot taking place in the middle of the road outside Giambattista Valli.
Into the Wind: Pandora Sykes at Christopher Kane SS2018
Love the flirty drama of this look on Pandora Sykes – red patent boots combined with pink and red florals combined with wind.
Dresses and Sandals, Art Basel Miami 2017
On this frigid day in New York City, we’re still dreaming of sunny Miami and the great resort looks we saw there. At the Scope Art Fair, two guests wore painterly dresses with sandals. Chic and practical.
