Striped Jacket, Outside Max Mara
One advantage of the unseasonably warm weather this spring: New Yorkers actually have a chance to wear jackets, not segue immediately from coats to tank tops. This season there’s a great variety of luxe jackets out there in a mix of materials and colors, like this one with striped sleeves and lining and leather piping outside the Max Mara show in Milan.
Karlie Kloss, After Viktor & Rolf
Perhaps no other model caused as much of a stir this fashion week as recently minted Victoria’s Secret angel Karlie Kloss. Her height, perfect proportions and almost supernaturally good looks made her a real star. Note to “normal” girls though: Don’t even try to look like Karlie Kloss. She was just beamed down from heaven this way.
Karlie exited the Viktor & Rolf show in a denim on denim look that’s been gaining popularity. For the best style, pair two contrasting shades of blue. The motorcycle boots and jacket may be classic Americana, but the bag is Chanel. Super cool super model.
Hanneli Mustaparta at Miu Miu
Photo blogger Hanneli wore an Acne skirt and jacket in white leather to the Miu Miu show with blue gingham Miu Miu earrings, white Miu Miu platforms and a blue Valentino bag. The adorable fuzzy baby blue socks were actually knit for her by her boyfriend’s mom.
Though the outfit looks very spring-y, it’s actually quite warm thanks to Hanneli’s Norwegian know-how. Underneath that leather jacket? Several wool layers!
Lynn Yaeger at Chanel
Long before personal style bloggers and other street style darlings started mixing patterns, Lynn Yaeger was doing it in her own post-punk fashion. At the Chanel show, she wore plaid, checks and a fairisle print backpack with her signature layered tulle skirts.
Kasia Struss and Ginta Lapina, After Louis Vuitton
Paris Fashion Week ended last week, but when I close my eyes images like these still linger: gorgeous women like Kasia and Ginta against the beautiful background of the Louvre. Ginta Lapina carries what was decidedly the It Bag of fashion week: the Celine trapeze bag.
Elena Perminova at Chanel
I’ve photographed Russian former model Elena Perminova at previous fashion weeks, but this season I became totally obsessed with her. Her outfits were totally amazing day after day, including this daring surrealist print worn head to toe at Chanel. The pattern is actually retro telephone buttons. She created an absolute frenzy among the street style photographers when she crossed the street after the Chanel show. Another close-up shot after the jump. (more…)
Miroslava in Chloe
Miroslava is one of the reasons we look forward to Paris fashion week. She is always so beautifully dressed, often in a lot of color, and never boring. She wore Chloe to the designer’s show Monday in the Tuileries.
Fringed Sweater and Tiger Print Dress, Outside Giambattista Valli
I love the tribal-ness of this outfit – the fringed sleeve of the deconstructed sweater looks like a hank of fur, and the tiger stripes are fierce in their own right. Indeed, preparing for a fashion show is a lot like preparing for battle.
Tulle Skirt, Outside Stella McCartney
A particularly windy day added to the drama of this gorgeous outfit outside yesterday’s Stella McCartney show. A tulle skirt is sexy in black, not too girlish, and the Jil Sander knit cap with veil, first spotted on Anna Dello Russo, has become a real hit with the fashion crowd. The half-and-half stockings are the icing on the cake.
JJ Martin at Hermes
This outfit is testament to the power of vintage. JJ Martin’s dress, belt and bag are all vintage yet so current-looking. The fur vest is Piazza Sempione, and the shoes are Balenciaga. A gorgeous look for an American in Paris.
Sama and Haya Abu Khadra at Costume National
I must admit I’m a little obsessed with twins Sama and Haya Abu Khadra from Dubai. They’re fabulous dressers – they are the very young buyers for their mother’s lifestyle boutique The Art of Living – but their beauty is just breathtaking.
Michelle Harper in Ivory Brocade
Michelle Harper wore a beautiful ivory brocade dress and coat to yesterday’s Viktor & Rolf show in the Tuileries. So timeless and elegant, perfect for Paris. And the gloves! Very Grace Kelly.
