Black Hat and Fur Fringe Scarf, Outside Dries Van Noten
Fringe provided the dramatic accent for many of the guests at Paris fashion week, like this woman at the Dries Van Noten show, who accessorized a pink top with a fur fringe scarf and black hat.
Simone Marchetti at Dries van Noten
Men’s accessories are a huge growth area in retail right now, and no wonder when men like La Repubblica‘s Simone Marchetti wear them so well. The pink polka dot scarf is Valentino.
Maria Loks at Dries van Noten
Model Maria Loks wore Dries van Noten’s vertical stripe top when exiting the show in Paris, styling it nicely with a crisp white button down underneath. Also note the running shoes, a popular footwear choice for a lot of models and photographers during fashion week. I definitely had shoe envy!
Green and Red, Outside Dries van Noten
Clutches: they’re not just handbags but impromptu umbrellas during a sudden rainstorm. Outside the Dries van Noten show, a guest ducked for cover under a red clutch that matched the red stripe on her green and black tunic.
Eva Chen at Sonia Rykiel
Eva Chen, new editor-in-chief at Lucky Magazine and the youngest editor-in-chief at Conde Nast, wore a fabulous Dries van Noten dragon-print coat to the Sonia Rykiel show in Paris. Dries, Dries, Dries: it’s often cited as a fashion insider’s favorite label, and no wonder. The reclusive designer sources gorgeous prints like this one from archives near and far and makes them into wearable works of art.
Elina Halimi at Alberta Ferretti
The ever-stylish Elina Halimi of Kabuki Paris swished by the Alberta Ferretti show in Milan in a red and blue striped Dries van Noten skirt with fringe, beaded sweatshirt, gold booties and a motorcycle jacket.
Elisa Nalin at Dries van Noten
Loved this Sonia Rykiel robin’s egg blue look on Elisa Nalin because it’s so simple, but it epitomizes what’s going on in fashion right now. Spring colors are now fall colors and vice versa. (See Marc Jacobs’ dark and moody spring collection for an example.) Another shot of her cool leaf necklace, bag and mirrored sunglasses, after the jump.
Grace Mahary at Dries van Noten
Welcome to Paris fashion week! Today was spring 2014 show of Dries van Noten, a favorite designer of many fashion people. Model Grace Mahary exited the show in a fringe dress and beautiful print scarf by the designer.
Sarah Rutson at Dries van Noten
After fashion week, there are certain outfits I keep coming back to in my mind when I am trying to get dressed myself. This is one of them, on Sarah Rutson outside the Dries van Noten show in Paris. She has styled it so expertly with the layered jackets (a great idea for this still-chilly time of year), navy polka dot blouse, pinstripe trousers, electric blue suede pumps and most importantly, that unexpected pop that comes from the bright Southwestern pattern on her belt. Perfection.
Nausheen Shah at Dries Van Noten
Black and gold is another trend to look out for in fall 2013. Nausheen Shah wore the combination to dramatic effect at the Dries Van Noten show with a standout necklace by jewelry designer Anndra Neen. Close up after the jump. (more…)
Linda Fargo at Dries Van Noten
Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo is instantly recognizable on cold days by her big fur hats. Today she wore one with a Burberry trench with fox fur shoulders and Louboutin leopard print boots to the Dries Van Noten show in Paris. Now that’s warmth and style. For her take on the fall/winter 2013 season so far, check out her interview in WWD.
Emmanuelle Alt at Dries Van Noten
Bienvenue à Paris Fashion Week! French Vogue editor Emmanuelle Alt surveyed the scene outside the Dries Van Noten show in all black, her coat belted just so, her scarf casually but perfectly coiled. Very French.
Hanne Gaby Odiele in Dries van Noten
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked a top editor/buyer/stylish at fashion week what they’re wearing, and the succinct answer is: “It’s Dries.” Belgian designer Dries van Noten is one of the most prized labels by fashion insiders, and when you see his designs up close, as on model Hanna Gaby Odiele, it’s easy to see why. The silk jacket and top from the spring/summer 2012 collection are a collage of digitally printed seventeenth-century botanical etchings and a jungle scene. Almost as gorgeous as Hanna Gaby herself.
And a beauty note: a lot of the top models have been wearing dark, ruby red lipstick this fashion week, in a sort of inversion of fall and spring color palettes.
