Seeing Spots, Outside Moschino
If you haven’t noticed, polka dots have been everywhere this fall/winter 2012, a trend that was spearheaded by Marc Jacobs with his F/W 2011 collection. Loved this metallic polka dot dress outside the Moschino show in Milan. If you do not dare to do all-over polka dots, opt for something more subtle but equally fun, like these sheer polka dot stockings by Falke.

Tiffany Hsu at Balenciaga
Hong Kong’s Lane Crawford buyer Tiffany Hsu wore the coolest blue quilted dress to the Balenciaga show. The dress designer is Chictopia (like the website but not), but it’s not available in the West. The cobalt blue suede shoes are the perfect accessory.

Miu Miu Mirror Paillette Dress, Outside Prada
On 57th Street and Fifth Avenue in New York, the shop windows are sparkling right now with rhinestone embellished shoes (Miu Miu) and mirrored backdrops for mirrored dresses (Naeem Khan at Bergdorf Goodman). This Miu Miu mirror paillette dress seen outside the Prada show would be an irreverent and fun take on holiday party dressing. The dress is sheer, but I like how she has worn black underneath to keep it simple. Pair it with sexy sheer black stockings in cold weather. (more…)

Leigh Lezark in Kenzo
Keep an eye out for the newly-reinvigorated brand Kenzo. Ever since Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon and Carol Lim took the helm as creative directors last year, Kenzo has been gaining visibility in editorial and ad pages – and also in real life on fashion industry folk. We saw numerous Kenzo sweatshirts on the editors this past fashion week, and at the Viktor & Rolf show in the Tuileries, Leigh Lezark work an intricately pleated Kenzo dress that looked particularly beautiful in motion.

Layering dresses over pants was a big trend on the runway for fall 2012, but few have been able to carry it off in real life as well as Susie Lau of Style Bubble. Outside the Chloe show she mixed prints in bright red and blue with a blue cardigan, two handbags and red Valentino shoes.

Lauren Remington Platt in Zac Posen
Loved this combination of moss green and bright red on Lauren Remington Platt, who wore Zac Posen to the designer’s show during New York Fashion Week. The jacket and above-the-knee skirt length are a great example of how versatile eveningwear has become now.
