Ruby Aldridge, Outside Moschino
Model Ruby Aldridge combined retro high-waisted jeans with a vintage Leica camera outside the Moschino show.
Polka Dot Jeans, After Rochas
An abstract polka dot print takes basic jeans up a notch. This look may be casual, but it’s also luxurious thanks to the blue suede and shearling of her motorcycle jacket.
Carlotta Oddi at Cavalli
Another new girl on the scene who’s been attracting a lot of attention because of her good looks and great style is Carlotta Oddi, assistant to Anna Dello Russo. On the last day of Milan Fashion Week, she wore a cool and relaxed jeans outfit to the Cavalli show. The distressed, bleached jeans show how many varieties there are now in denim. Love a hat like this for a rainy day. The studded bag is Valentino.
Leandra Medine Photobombing Taylor Tomasi Hill, Outside Peter Som
This was a funny moment outside the shows. Both street style stars attracted a lot of attention from photographers, and Leandra Medine of the Man Repeller jokingly photo-bombed Taylor Tomasi Hill. Great outfits on both of them!
Karlie Kloss at Rag & Bone
Sojourner Morrell, Outside Milk Studios
Born in the U.S. and raised in England, model Sojourner Morrell is one of the newer faces on the scene and one of my favorites. Outside Milk Studios she wore tough-cool layers of gray denim.
Bonnaroo Street Chic: Yellow Denim Shorts and Jean Jacket
Another advantage of denim shorts dyed in colors other than blue: then you can pair them with a plain jean jacket, as with these cute yellow cut-off shorts. Love how she accessorizes for a festival with a headband and feather earrings, too.
Bonnaroo Street Chic: Crochet Bikini and Denim Shorts
Sometimes the best thing to wear when it’s blistering hot is next to nothing, especially when you have the bod for it, like this girl at Bonnaroo in a brown crochet bikini top, Daisy Duke shorts, cowboy boots and a big sombrero.
Two Summer 2012 Trends: Denim Shorts and Head Wreaths
These two fashionable friends were wearing a couple of things that keep popping up everywhere for summer 2012: denim shorts, on the left, and a head wreath, on the right. Jean shorts aren’t just blue anymore but come in a wide array of colors, like these in burgundy, in neon colors, dip-dyed or even tie-dyed. And head wreaths are worth noting not just because of the festival circuit but for their appearance on fashion influencers like the Man Repeller and Giovanna Battaglia. (more…)
Halter Top and Denim Shorts, Bonnaroo
Halter tops were a great way to beat the heat during the first, really hot days of Bonnaroo, and denim shorts are always a popular pick for outdoor concerts. This guest also wore a couple of accessories that were popping up everywhere: a fanny pack and a head wreath adorned with flowers.
Striped Tee and Denim Shorts, the Great Googa Mooga
Denim shorts were a popular sartorial choice at last weekend’s Great Googa Mooga festival in Prospect Park. The white flip flops and white wayfarers play off the graphic black and white stripes of her tee. Another important aspect of festival fashion? If you’re going to show those toes, make sure you have a rockin’ pedicure, like hers in electric blue.
Shredded Denim Shorts, the Great Googa Mooga
New Yorkers broke out their best festival wear for this weekend’s Great Googa Mooga food and music extravaganza in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. One guest wore totally shredded and destroyed denim shorts, mixing them with a black top and black and white shades. The outfit is not just cool but practical: a small cross body bag, boots, bedspread and wide brimmed hat make it easy to either dance or sit down and picnic.
Zanna Roberts Rassi at the Parsons MFA Exhibit
Marie Claire editor Zanna Roberts Rassi arrived at Monday’s Parsons MFA exhibit looking just as chic as she does during fashion week. We’ve been seeing bright pants on a lot of trendsetters now, but what makes her look particularly cool is how she pairs these Christopher Kane for J Brand neon-bright yellow jeans with a classic military drab jacket. She’s customized the jeans by tucking the flared leg into her lace-up boots. Love it.
Emmanuelle Alt at Sonia Rykiel
French Vogue editor Emmanuelle Alt has been wearing white jeans year round for an effortlessly sophisticated look. At the Sonia Rykiel show in Paris, she paired them with a luxe leopard print jacket: high-low fashion at its best.
She has also been a big influence in beauty. Many of the fall shows were styled with models with very little makeup and loose, natural hair, à la Emmanuelle.
Karlie Kloss, After Viktor & Rolf
Perhaps no other model caused as much of a stir this fashion week as recently minted Victoria’s Secret angel Karlie Kloss. Her height, perfect proportions and almost supernaturally good looks made her a real star. Note to “normal” girls though: Don’t even try to look like Karlie Kloss. She was just beamed down from heaven this way.
Karlie exited the Viktor & Rolf show in a denim on denim look that’s been gaining popularity. For the best style, pair two contrasting shades of blue. The motorcycle boots and jacket may be classic Americana, but the bag is Chanel. Super cool super model.
