Bundled Up: Catherine Baba at Margiela Couture SS2017
Irina Kravchenko at Maison Margiela Couture SS2017
Purple Prescience: Gilda Ambrosio at Paris Couture SS2017
Last year at this time, Gilda Ambrosio wore the exact color purple (Pantone’s “ultra violet”) that would end up being the Pantone color of year for 2018. Ahead of the curve as always!
Winter Is Coming: Irina Shnitman and Ania Chiz at LFW SS2018
Two looks for when you don’t know which way the weather is turning, but know that it could turn bad at any minute.
Making the Rounds: Red Coat and White Celine Bag, Outside Lacoste SS2018
This boxy white Celine bag was making the rounds this past fashion month and should be back in full force for spring. Think of it as luxe granny chic. It looked particularly good paired with a bright red coat and heels.
Into the Fray: Alexa Chung at House of Holland SS2018
Alexa Chung dashed through the crowd into the House of Holland show in London. Love the unexpected mix of long beaded earrings and a traditional peacoat.
TBT: Plaid Coats in the Snow, Day 1 of NYFW
On this stormy and snowy day, I am definitely having flashbacks to the very first morning of New York Fashion Week last February, when another snowstorm hit New York. Still editors and buyers trekked to the shows.
Teddy Quinlivan at Sacai SS2018
Despite years of shooting model Teddy Quinlivan, I never realized she was transgender – until she came out as trans at the end of New York fashion week in support of other trans individuals. Brava! It goes to show you how ridiculous the U.S. laws against transgender people are: she belongs in a Victoria’s Secret show, not a men’s room. Here she is chic and beautiful in green lace after the Sacai show in Paris. Love the boots too.
Outside Max Mara, Milan Fashion Week SS 2018
Something Wild: Caroline Vreeland at Cushnie et Ochs SS2018
What goes with leopard? How about more leopard? Caroline Vreeland wore a leopard-print coat with leopard-print over-the-knee boots at the Cushnie et Ochs show. Over-the-knee boots were wildly popular this season among the fashion week crowd.
Sofa Print: After Marni SS2018
Sofa prints! Who knew they could be so chic? But they’re popping up everywhere, especially on lightweight floral coats for fall. Pair it with a velvet top and you’ve got a Victorian vibe going.
Plaid on Plaid: Robert Ferrell at Margiela FW2017
It’s really beginning to feel like fall in NYC, which makes me wish for all the rich colors and fabrics of the season. One for the New York Times and one of my favorite menswear looks from Paris – Robert Ferrell in a plaid overcoat with plaid bag. Love the combination of colors and patterns.
Prince of Wales: Marianne at Valentino FW2017
Prince of Wales plaid popped up everywhere during fashion month on women and men. This lightweight material works well as transition wear during the spring. At Valentino, Marianne mixed it with an orange sweatshirt and retro sunglasses.
Rainy Day, Paris Fashion Week FW 2017
Staying chic even in the rain with a fantastically painted leather coat and feather-trimmed jacket at Paris fashion week.
Red and White: Tina Leung at Tory Burch FW2017
A pretty look in red and white on Tina Leung – and a good lesson in layering spring dresses when the weather isn’t cooperating!
