Olivia Palermo at Carven
Every time I see this, I get shoe envy. Over-the-knee boots are great for fall 2013, especially with a minidress like the plaid zippered Zara one Olivia Palermo wears here. And yes, that is a horde of photographers running behind her!
Anne Catherine Frey at Viktor & Rolf
Fashion blogger and Luxembourger Anne Catherine Frey wore a Carven dress and Sandro biker jacket to the Viktor & Rolf show in Paris. I love these pale blues for the beginning of spring. Detail shot of the dress, which features a map of Paris, after the jump. (more…)
Angelo Flaccavento at Carven
Taylor Tomasi Hill at Carven
After several seasons of booties, I was relieved to see that knee-high and over-the-knee boots are making a comeback this season. You can only have so much of booties – especially if you held onto your boots from seasons past. Here Taylor Tomasi Hill of Moda Operandi wears black over-the-knee boots with a navy miniskirt and navy and white windowpane check sweater from Kenzo.
Marina Larroude at Carven
Sweater weather is upon us, and the options are even better this year than years past thanks to advances in technology. The same technique that allowed for elaborate prints on spring 2012 blouses and pants is now being applied to fall 2012 sweaters, resulting in cool patterns like this animal print on Marina Larroude’s sweater at the Paris Carven show.
Anna Wintour in Prada
Anna Wintour wore head to toe Prada to the Carven show in Paris. The Prada fall 2012 collection, both the blacks and the graphic prints, has been a big favorite of editors here. It’s already being knocked off by certain chain stores, but there’s no substitute for the original.
Kate Lanphear at Carven
Graphic black and red defined Kate Lanphear’s look yesterday during Paris fashion week. The jacket, red tiger-print sweater and black wayfarers have real urban polish. Meanwhile, cropped black leather trousers could be considered avant garde even in the fashion world, where skinny jeans are still the order of the day. Lanphear is ever the rule breaker in all the right ways.
Virginie Mouzat at Carven
This past fashion week, we admired Virginie Mouzat, fashion editor of the Parisian daily Le Figaro, not just for her sense of style but her fearlessness on the page. In an age when so many fashion “reviews” tiptoe around anything negative in an established designer’s collection (for fear of alienating advertisers?), she completely panned Tom Ford’s collection in New York. Brava! Sometimes the truth is just black and white.
Anna Wintour at Carven
Since Guillaume Henry took the reins as head designer at Carven last spring, this storied brand has gone through quite a renaissance. Top fashion editors including Anna Wintour attended the show yesterday in the Tuileries.
Wintour arrived gorgeously attired in a dress that combines modern textiles and technique with a flared ’50s skirt – look out for more of these come spring – and a jeweled choker. But most importantly, Wintour demonstrates how fashion can convey power. Even without the bodyguard at right, it would be easy to tell from the expert cut, luxury and colorful flamboyance of her clothes that she is the queen bee.
