Print Pantsuit, Outside Dries Van Noten FW2020
A look from Paris, February 2020. I am long on loud prints and colors for spring. Getting dressed to leave the house has taken on a sort of performative aspect since no one is dressing to go to the office anymore – so why follow the rules? Wear whatever you like, the wilder, the better.
High Contrast: Caroline Daur in Off White PFW FW2017
Another visually arresting color combo, this time on Caroline Daur in Off White at Paris fashion week. This look is also a great example of how to wear boots with a skirt or dress.
Work It: Christine Centenera at Loewe SS2017
Another great look that also works for the office. Christine Centenera wore a blazer over a knit skirt and top to the Loewe show. It isn’t all business though: click through to see a sexy detail in the back of the jacket. (more…)
Reporting for Duty: Yoyo Cao at Loewe SS2017
Yoyo Cao arrived at the Loewe show in a cadet cap and Prince of Wales plaid pants suit. Surprisingly popular among fashion week guests, pant suits have shed their dowdy image and now feature updated, flattering cuts and colors that would work both in and out of the office.
Samantha Angelo at Chloe SS2016
New blogger Samantha Angelo of The Eye Travels turned heads this fashion week season with her statuesque beauty and flair for mixing different pieces. Outside the Chloe show in Paris, she belted a long Dries Van Noten coat, part trench and part duster, over an Acne dress with a pointed collar and Mary Jane-style Charlotte Olympia shoes. The military subtext to the outfit may especially work for another reason: she actually served in the Marines as a clarinetist in the United States Marine Band! Certainly a multi-talented player on the fashion scene.
Rachel Wang at Stella McCartney Resort 2016
Rachel Wang looked polished but summery in a lightweight plaid dress with big gold earrings at the Stella McCartney resort show in New York.
Color Story: Margaret Zhang at Chloe FW2015
It may still be too cold for shorts, but you can always change the story by shifting to spring colors, like this caramel and navy outfit on Margaret Zhang at Chloe. A silk scarf tied at the neck is not just a classic look but an instant spring 2015 update.
How Suede It Is: Chiara Ferragni at Chloe FW2015
Really liking the look of this caramel-colored suede for spring 2015. Apparently everyone agrees with me, because suede pieces similar to this Chloe shorts and jacket combo on Chiara Ferragni are selling out everywhere.
Candice Lake at Moncler Gamme Rouge FW2015
Photographer and blogger Candice Lake wore a pretty combination of a long suede coat and long white tulle ruffled skirt with boots at the Moncler Gamme Rouge show in Paris. No matter how edgy and dark fashion (and fashion photography) can get – romance is not dead!
Giovanna Battaglia at Miu Miu FW2015
One of the people we will miss seeing in the off season: Giovanna Battaglia, always a sunny presence on the fashion scene! She wore some great brocade boots and a cute hat to the Miu Miu show in Paris. Also on our radar: brown, traditionally a fall color, has been appropriated by the fashion set for spring. Perhaps it’s part of that ’70s vibe going on right now.
Miroslava Duma at Stella McCartney FW2015
It’s been great to see Miroslava Duma back on the scene at Paris Fashion Week. At the Stella McCartney show yesterday, she wore a mix of shades of brown, patchwork coat and turtleneck sweater and carried a brown suede Hermes bag.
Danielle Bernstein at Rebecca Minkoff
Danielle Bernstein of We Wore What arrived at the Rebecca Minkoff show in New York in a fur-trimmed caramel colored sweater.
Ada Kokosar at Alexander Wang
A cool and unusual look on Ada Kokosar on a hot and steamy day: brown silk fringe blouse and a baby blue pleated skirt. The pop on blue on the bag brings it all together.
Ada Kokosar at Giorgio Armani
Here’s something to get you in the mood for spring: Ada Kokosar in great combination of brown and robin’s egg blue outside the Giorgio Armani show in Milan.
