Mommy Blogger: Chiara Ferragni at Coach SS2018
If a fashion blogger becomes a mother, what happens to her Instagram feed? WWD today reports on the “baby boom” among fashion bloggers, many of whom started out at age 22-24 and are now nearing 30. Seen here at Coach in September, Chiara Ferragni was several months pregnant at the time, unbeknownst to us, and now sonogram videos and other intimate family moments are interspersed with fashion posts. Many Instagram posts by Chiara and other bloggers like Chriselle Lim, Eva Chen and Arielle Charnas, however, differ from the previous generation’s endless stream of baby pics on Facebook. They’re carefully posed – or hilariously unscripted – moments with kids, who often happen to be wearing great outfits. Instagram’s own Eva Chen was the first-to-market on this trend. Bringing the Weather With Them: Caillie and Sam Beckerman at NYFW Day 1 FW2017
More style in the snow on Caillie and Sam Beckerman of Toronto’s Beckerman Blog. They did not let the weather dissuade them from carrying Chanel bags to the shows!
Caught in the Middle, NYFW Day 1 February 2017
TBT: Plaid Coats in the Snow, Day 1 of NYFW
On this stormy and snowy day, I am definitely having flashbacks to the very first morning of New York Fashion Week last February, when another snowstorm hit New York. Still editors and buyers trekked to the shows.
Popular Mechanics: Camila Coelho in Louis Vuitton at PFW SS2018
The clean lines of sleek cars were on display this past fashion month, both in the venues – like Ralph Lauren’s show in his souped-up garage in Bedford, NY – and in the clothes, as seen on Camila Coelho in crisp Louis Vuitton outside the Paris shows. Disclaimer: not her Porsche! (yet)
Party Shoes: Sequined Boots Outside Lanvin SS2018
Winning for the most fun shoes seen outside the shows in Paris.
Teddy Quinlivan at Sacai SS2018
Despite years of shooting model Teddy Quinlivan, I never realized she was transgender – until she came out as trans at the end of New York fashion week in support of other trans individuals. Brava! It goes to show you how ridiculous the U.S. laws against transgender people are: she belongs in a Victoria’s Secret show, not a men’s room. Here she is chic and beautiful in green lace after the Sacai show in Paris. Love the boots too.
Something Wild: Caroline Vreeland at Cushnie et Ochs SS2018
What goes with leopard? How about more leopard? Caroline Vreeland wore a leopard-print coat with leopard-print over-the-knee boots at the Cushnie et Ochs show. Over-the-knee boots were wildly popular this season among the fashion week crowd.
Cloak and Dagger: Tina Leung at Palais du Tokyo
A beautifully styled look on Tina Leung at Palais du Tokyo this month in Paris. Love how she belted the cloak and paired it with over-the-knee boots. Bring on the fall weather!
State of the Art: Caroline Issa at Christopher Kane SS2018
Congrats to Caroline Issa, who was tapped to curate Sotheby’s “Contemporary Curated” sale in London, opening November 21st. Here she is at the Tate Modern for the Christopher Kane show in a very painterly blue velvet look.
Cold Shoulder: Carlotta Oddi at Gucci SS2018
We saw so much of this ribbed Calvin Klein sweater with cut-outs at the shoulder during fashion month. Carlotta Oddi wore hers with a paneled maxi skirt and boots. Cut-outs at the shoulder are still on-trend in knits and silk tops, although with a hard, straight line like a tank top, not the scooped out shoulder that has been done ad infinitum.
Sweater Weather: Nina Suess at Versus SS2018
Enjoy the great fashion weather while it lasts! Nina Suess wore a fringe skirt, floral boots and chunky knit sweater with bare legs at the Versus show in London.
Blue Mood: Veronika Heilbrunner at J.W. Anderson SS2018
A blue dress and blue shades to match on Veronika Heilbrunner at the J.W. Anderson show in London. And yet more buttons down the side.
The Doctor Is In: Justine Skye at Public School SS2018
Doc Martens are the boots of choice for a whole new generation, as seen on Justine Skye at the Public School show in NYC. A cropped hoodie and wide-legged pants finish off the look.
