Ulyana Sergeenko at Valentino SS2014
Designer Ulyana Sergeenko wore a beautiful blue dress of her own design to the Valentino show in Paris, combining it with a gray sweater underneath. A great mix. Detail shot after the jump. (more…)
Black and White Print Pants, Outside Rochas
Here are more of the new pants for you, looser, expertly tailored, and a little bit cropped in this case. Another development seen on the spring runways as well as the streets: playing with volume in the back of jackets and tops. Designers like Sacai have taken a cue from traditional Japanese garb and added an unexpected pouf to the back of jackets and tops, as on this one. Click through to see the jacket in profile. (more…)
Blue Suede Boots, Outside Missoni
Boots: they’re one of my favorite things about fall. As sad as it may be to put away flip flops for the next seven months, there’s something eminently satisfying about stomping around in a great pair of boots, as Nancy Sinatra famously noted. A guest at the Missoni show paired these blue suede ones with black knee socks underneath for a cool peekaboo effect, mixed with a crisp black and white dress. Look for more knee-high and over-the-knee boots this fall.
Helena Bordon at Roberto Cavalli
Helena Bordon wore a cool mix of blue-and-white ikat jacket, black suede skirt and Adidas tee to the Roberto Cavalli show in Milan. The zebra-print boots are the finishing touch: not as dressy as stiletto pumps, but just as sexy and more comfortable for stomping around in all day.
Elena Perminova at Valentino SS2014
Bette Franke at Ralph Lauren
How gorgeous is model Bette Franke? And like many New York fashion week attendees, she traveled to the shows by bike, in this case a cool moss-green Biria with panniers. With taxis in short supply and the subway far away from many of the west side shows, bikes – regular or Citibikes – were the way to go this New York fashion week.
Blue Carreon at BCBG
One of my favorite guys to photograph, Blue Carreon, wore his signature blue to the BCBG show in a print blazer with white chinos and loafers.
Miroslava Duma at Victoria Beckham
Miroslava Duma arrived at the Victoria Beckham show in a crisp belted yellow leopard tank and blue pants perfect for the variable September weather we’ve been having in NYC.
Shades of Blue, Outside Armani Prive
Another twist on the colorblocked dress, this time in various shades of blue denim, cotton and velvet on a model off duty after the Armani Privé show.
Miroslava Duma at Dior Couture
Trendsetter and street style muse Miroslava Duma wore a couple of sportswear-inspired dresses during Paris couture week, including this blue and orange colorblocked Dior dress at the Dior couture show. Note that she pairs it with super ladylike accessories. Pearl earrings, electric blue heels and a black Hermès bag keep the look very polished.
Two Girls at the Parisian Ball, Governor’s Island
This summer has presented some real sartorial challenges when it comes to outdoor events in NYC. This Saturday’s new Parisian Ball on Governor’s Island, a big Bastille Day bash complete with vintage carnival rides, started out drizzly but hot for a long event that wouldn’t end til midnight. These two guests rose to the challenge with outdoor festival wear that’s practical but pretty – overalls paired with nautical stripes and a blue and red head wreath on the left and a blue and white print top with red and white earrings on the right.
Susie Bubble at Valentino
Fashion blogger Susie Bubble always stands out in a crowd. At the Valentino show, she wore Chanel shorts (vintage I think) a colorful print top and chunky heels and headphones. The element that brings it all together: the color blue.
Caroline Brasch Nielsen at Chanel
After walking the Chanel couture show, model Caroline Brasch Nielsen exited in this cool workwear outfit of blue carpenter-style pants and a matching mesh top.
Simone Marchetti at Chanel
La Reppublica editor Simone Marchetti was one of the best dressed men at Paris couture, attending the Chanel show in a robin’s egg blue suit and polka dot cravat. Perfect for summer, sophisticated enough for some serious business.
Karl-Edwin Guerre at Dior
Menswear is becoming an increasingly big part of the retail market, and this week marks the start of men’s SS2014 fashion week with shows in London. Here are a few looks from the archives of great menswear on the streets. Photographer Karl-Edwin Guerre sported a great summer look of yellow madras pants, brown straw fedora, blue button down and matching blue oxfords outside the Dior show.
