Eva Chen at Dior Cruise 2015
I have been struggling with what to do about crop tops. Memories of Jennifer Aniston in red carpet appearances past have clouded my judgment somewhat, because this generation of crop tops is not the navel gazing version that plagued us in the early 2000s. Instead the new crop tops are often paired with high waisted pants and skirts, revealing just the tiniest bit of sexy skin, as Lucky editor Eva Chen did so effortlessly at the Dior Cruise show. I also love her work clutch, the sort of bag you see so often on fashion editors now.
Caroline Issa at Bottega Veneta
More burgundy and blue: Caroline Issa wore a burgundy and cobalt blue windowpane check suit to the Bottega Veneta show – it’s an unusual color combination that works beautifully. Also love the buckle shoes.
Colorblock Coat, Outside Derek Lam
Take a cue from Louis Vuitton‘s Nicholas Ghesquière and mix light blue and burgundy for a retro ’70s look that’s fresh for 2014.
Powder Blue, Outside 3.1 Phillip Lim
Loving icy blues, pinks and greens as transitional colors from winter to spring this year, especially if you do one color head to toe like this guest at the 3.1 Phillip Lim show.
Irene Kim at Altuzarra FW2014
Irene Kim of The Contempt + the Sublime made a big splash at New York fashion week this past season, wearing cool outfits every day. At the Altuzarra show, she wore layers of floral print denim by Topshop, a pale blue coat, pink hat and those shiny new Birkenstocks that may be everywhere come summer.
Caroline Issa at Sacai FW2014
Up-and-coming label Sacai has been getting a lot of buzz recently for its great jackets and skirts. The show in Paris drew a few fashion heavy hitters including Caroline Issa, who wore a pretty blue print skirt and jacket to the show.
Blue Silk Coat, Outside Comme des Garcons
With a new season comes a new obsession with coats and jackets. I loved this transitional look on a guest at the Comme des Garçons show in Paris. The blue silk coat is actually a blue leather jacket lined in faux fur and covered with silk. And once it gets warm enough, expect to see more bared ankles like hers.
Miroslava Duma at Nina Ricci FW2014
Miroslava Duma looked fabulous in cobalt blue, over-the-knee boots (which I believe are Casadei? seen on many a fashionista) and a Pierre Hardy bag at the Nina Ricci show in Paris.
Olivia Palermo at Diane Von Furstenberg
Olivia Palermo wore a great cobalt blue coat with fur collar and brown leather sleeves to the Diane von Furstenberg show in New York. Also note the flash of bare ankles: this is an instant style upgrade anyone can do for spring – as soon as you dare to bare your ankles!
Bryanboy at Hugo Boss
More love for Valentine’s Day: At the Hugo Boss show, Bryanboy carried an amazing “love” Lego clutch from Les Petits Jouers. The cobalt blue suede jacket is Calvin Klein, the suit Valentino and the additional bag – because you can never have just one – Chanel.
Taylor Tomasi Hill at Prabal Gurung
Leigh Lezark at Richard Chai Love
Leigh Lezark is on the scene for New York Fashion Week, DJ’ing parties and shows, seen here outside the Richard Chai show wearing fabulous wide-legged Richard Chai white pants with a blue crop top.
Evelyn Song at Chloe
Fashion blogger Evelyn Song mixed a vintage blue leopard print jacket with burgundy check Zara pants and a crop top for a cool, swingy look outside the Chloe show.
Nasiba Adilova at Derek Lam
Buro 24/7‘s Nasiba Adilova – a great fashion insider to follow on Instagram BTW – looked fabulous in navy at the Derek Lam show. The flounced sleeves and the navy color of her dress are such a nice alternative to your basic black uniform – something to keep this in mind as winter nears.
Valentino Coat, Chanel Bag and Jeans, Outside Valentino
This is the kind of high-low mix that stylists and editors love: a très chic (and expensive) Valentino coat and Chanel matriochka bag worn with a down-to-earth pair of ripped boyfriend jeans. Even if you can’t throw on your best Valentino and Chanel, you can take a cue from this girl: this fall’s shredded boyfriend jeans are best worn cuffed with heels, especially if you’re petite.
