Anna Ewers at NYFW SS2015
The fact that Anna Ewers is wearing a leather jacket and jeans in this photo from last September leads me to believe that someday the temperature in New York City may actually drop below 90 degrees. Get ready! Beauty shot of Anna and Ola Rudnicka, after the jump. (more…)
Virginia Smith at Haider Ackermann FW2015
Jeans are undergoing some major changes for 2015. Continuing from the boyfriend jeans trend of the previous year, they’re getting even wider and slouchier, like these sailor-style jeans seen on Vogue’s Virginia Smith at the Haider Ackermann show in Paris. A similar but separate trend: flared jeans like the ones Ghesquière put on the runway at Louis Vuitton.
Black and Blue: Ines de la Fressange at Hermes FW2015
One of France’s great beauties, Inès de la Fressange, wore an elegant combination of navy, cream and black to the Hermes show in Paris. Mixing black and blue: one of the key tenets of fellow French model Caroline de Maigret in her book How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are. Detail shot of Inès, after the jump. (more…)
Leather Jacket and Silk Pants, Outside Moncler Gamme Rouge FW2015
Loved the combination of materials – leather and silk – colors – black and blue – and sizing – fitted and voluminous – on this model off duty after the Moncler Gamme Rouge show.
Black and Blue: Ece Sukan at Carven FW2015
We’ve seen a lot of mixing black and blue outside the shows this season, and Ece Sukan did it particularly well with a black studded leather jacket and navy pencil skirt.
Patchwork Fur Coat, Outside Dior Couture SS2015
Black and blue was a popular color combination outside the couture shows and an interesting spin on the usual all black. One guest at the Dior show wore a black and blue fur patchwork coat, pairing it with a wide brimmed hat and over-the-knee boots.
Black and Blue: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at Balmain SS2015
I still love the classic combination of black and blue, especially in winter when all black gets so boring. Top model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore a black and blue tuxedo jacket, black leather mini and black ankle boots and monogrammed navy blue bag to the Balmain show in Paris. It’s also amazing how she color-coordinated with her bodyguard – on purpose? The jet setter recently contributed a travel checklist to Who What Wear Daily that was totally personal and totally fascinating – check it out here.
Christine Centenera at Miu Miu FW2014
Vogue Australia’s Christine Centenera expertly layered a menswear-inspired blue shirt under a sweater and over a super feminine long black skirt and stiletto sandals at the Miu Miu show in Paris.
Taylor Tomasi Hill at Giambattista Valli
This girl really knows how to put an outfit together! Taylor Tomasi Hill wrapped a black and white striped scarf over a blue pantsuit and belted the whole thing, pairing it with black and white gingham shoes. It’s pretty brilliant, but it looks effortless. That’s another fashionable T.T. – Tommy Ton – in the background.
Kate Davidson Hudson at BCBG
Crop tops and full skirts have a sexy 1950s sensibility that really works right now. At the BCBG show, Editorialist‘s Kate Davidson Hudson wore a Marni skirt and BCBG top and carried a Louis Vuitton bag.
Black and Blue, Outside Jason Wu
Crappy weather – we get a lot of it in New York. And every time it sleets sideways I can’t help but think of other times we’ve encountered similarly crappy weather, as at the Jason Wu show during NY Fashion Week. One guest managed it with style by mixing a navy coat with black leather pants, silver high tops and a baseball cap. The orange vest underneath her coat is a nice pop of color – and great for added warmth.
Princess Deena Abdulaziz at Louis Vuitton
Saudi Princess Deena Abdulaziz, who is also the owner of influential Riyadh boutique D’NA, is one of the most elegantly dressed women on the fashion scene today. She was recently profiled on Vogue.com on her way to fashion week.
Tilda Swinton at Haider Ackermann FW2013
There are a few celebs at Paris fashion week, and I am not all that affected by most of them, but I confess to getting totally starstruck whenever I see Tilda Swinton. Not only is she a great actress (see I Am Love – set in Milan, with costumes by Raf Simons – if you haven’t already), she’s really an inspiration to the fashion industry as a true fashion connoisseur and star of The Impossible Wardrobe.
Aline Weber at DKNY
Model Aline Weber wore black and blue on her way out of the DKNY show. Love the mix of textures and the cheetah-spot boots.
Kate Lanphear at Ruffian
Kate Lanphear, now the style director of T Magazine, bundled up for the Ruffian show at 9am the day after blizzard Nemo with a long black fur vest layered under a midnight blue coat. Her black beanie hat has a fur/faux fur pom pom, another micro trend that’s hitting now. Her companion is practically dressed for the cold with boots and a down coat. Much better than a few people who showed up at Lincoln Center in things like strapless gowns during a blizzard… yes, that happened!
