WFH Beauty: Candace Marie at Self Portrait FW2020
I have to say I love a hat on a video call – on women or men. It frames the face and looks like you put in some effort, even if you’re not leaving the house. Candace Marie wore a great one to the Self Portrait show this winter. Colorful winged eyeliner was another beauty trend we saw on the street.
WFH Beauty: Going Green
In which we imagine what would look cool on the other end of a Zoom call: green extensions and matching tinted glasses, plus oversize earrings.
WFH Beauty: Caroline Vazzanna, In the Red
In which we imagine what would look cool on the other end of a Zoom call: red lipstick, aviator glasses and lots of jewelry, as seen on Caroline Vazzanna in NYC this winter.
Mommy and Me: Sara Blomqvist and Beau at Dries Van Noten SS2019
After the Dries Van Noten show, model Sara Blomqvist dashed out while still in runway makeup and picked up a little something: her son Beau. We photographers especially love the Dries show because he brings back his favorite model muses year after year.
Beauty Inspo: Sasha Lane at Coach FW2018
Love the purple eyeshadow and piled up hair on Sasha Lane at the Coach show earlier this year. Dreamy…
Irina Kravchenko at Maison Margiela Couture SS2017
Nighttime Beauty: Sara Sampaio at Glamour Women of the Year 2017
Sara Sampaio went for dramatic eyes and nude lips for the Glamour Women of the Year Awards last night, a great nighttime beauty look. Sequins were also a popular choice among the fashionistas on the red carpet.
TBT: Edie Campbell at Louis Vuitton SS2014
Today in models speaking out: Edie Campbell penned an open letter to WWD, questioning the fashion community’s response to sexual abuse in the industry. As the New York Times has also pointed out, is the problem really limited to just one photographer, Terry Richardson? Really? Campbell also brings up the issue of male models who have suffered abuse – something we hear much less about. Definitely worth a read – and worth considering if victims can start naming names, as has happened in almost every other creative industry now, without fear of getting blacklisted.
Here’s a throwback Thursday pic of Campbell in 2013 after she closed the Louis Vuitton show covered in Stephen Sprouse-style body paint. If I remember correctly, she actually flew back to London immediately after the show still covered in body paint.
Runway Beauty: Mali Koopman at Jason Wu SS2017
You can always tell when models appreciate the runway makeup because, like Mali Koopman after the Jason Wu show, they leave it on when leaving the show instead of taking it off for the next one. A nude face and red lip are a good bet for summer beauty: simple but sophisticated.
Tina Leung at Paris Couture Week SS2017
Tina Leung wore a great combination of a Raf Simons puffer over a Courreges black and white jacket to Paris couture week. Her hair and makeup are Dior.
Summer Beauty: Maria Borges at Armani Prive FW2016
Victoria’s Secret model Maria Borges exited the Armani Privé show in Paris in subtle but colorful runway makeup, shell choker, and the natural hairstyle that has become her trademark. Not only a strong beauty statement, but perfect for summer.
Hannah Bronfman at Giorgio Armani Prive FW2016
Hannah Bronfman entered the Giorgio Armani show in Paris in a plunging white silk dress with a leather jacket thrown over her shoulders – a great transitional look as summer goes into fall. Also love that although she is quickly becoming a beauty icon, she keeps her look very natural.
Valentina and Chiara Ferragni, Coachella Weekend One 2016
One of the biggest trends at Coachella 2016 was not a particular piece of clothing but the fact that friends are coordinating their outfits. Sisters Valentina and Chiara Ferragni wore a crochet and lace dress respectively, and Valentina’s pearl applique went well with Chiara’s tiara. The two star bloggers know a thing or two about how social media influences women’s sartorial choices. Girls can get dressed “together” for an event even if they are miles apart.
Face in the Crowd: Rumi Neely at Coachella 2016
A familiar face in the crowd, Rumi Neely, was one of several chic concert goers to opt for all white. It’s not the most practical shade for a festival, but it’s great if you’re just going to emerge from the VIP area.
Anastasia Chekry at Ulyana Sergeenko Couture FW2015
A pretty look in a black and white romper on model Anastasia Chekry, still in hair and makeup from the Ulyana Sergeenko couture runway.
